Crossing is easier, because it is percentage related. Just as it is easier to smash a ball upfield for someone to header on, you don't know who will win it, your just hitting an even bigger area, for the receiver to take responsibility for.
Carrabuh, your rather ridiculous statements are rather entertaining. Back to the height argument briefly. The world's fastest man is 6 ft 5. Also, who says Whittaker has to play at full back? He could play at centre back.
Well why do they not do it from the start, of course it is a tactic. Its just not the short term tactic you see in England. There is more than one team on the field other than Spain. Keeping the ball is also a defensive ploy which operates on two levels, it is mentally and physically draining on the opposition, and while you have the ball the opposition cannot score. This is the anithesis of England and Germany who think they have to try and score as quickly as possible every time they have tha ball. The Spanish take their time an wear you down.
its whittaker's flexibility that is so good. just like naughton, you'd feel comfortable putting him left back, right back and with whittaker, although perhaps not quite as good a player as naughton, who lets face it was exceptionally good for us, he too has those qualities and that will be useful during the season. a bit like lappin, who has filled in in so many positions - you can never underestimate players like that.
Usain Bolt really only has to think about himself and a straight line. I never said he has to play right back, I just said taller players are not generally associate dwith full back positions, and Scots aren't renowned for there ability
you've answered your own question effectively. the reason they don't do it from the start is because they have a fear of losing or losing a goal. by keeping the ball they are negative and the opposition cannot score if they've got it. its only when it gets late if they haven't scored that they change their tactics to play more expansive. when they come out of their shell i think everybody can appreciate how great they can be to watch. ok, the germans lost the other day, but their philosophy is far nicer on the eye than spain's tiresome keep-ball. its all about balance and spain have never quite got that balance right between keeping the ball and actually doing something with it. its not done them any harm as they've been ultra-successful but that doesn't mean its good to watch.
can i ask, since when has 6'1" been labelled 'tall'? i'm 6' and i don't think of myself as being tall. i'm just over average i think. playing full back isn't about height, its about speed and reading the game, being able to cover your centre halves and add something down the flanks in attack. his height has **** all to do with his ability so its a lame argument to be honest.
it could be seen as last year in the prem. Man C would pass, pass, pass wam score other sides more like man utd always seem to me to be more of the style where you break at pace and score. To add I cannot stand the English team as they are the same old overpaid ****ers too busy trying to get into women's pants it seems than playing football. Whatever people thought of him at least Beckham gave 100% every game and would at times drag the team with him. That attitude is why I love to support Northern Ireland, they play their hearts out and can end up beating teams like Spain and Italy and then lose to San Marino or something.
Still shows that you can be tall and still be fast. Scottish or not, doesn't make a difference. That is a bad generalisation. Unless you're referring to how the young footballers learn. Such as in Brazil they practice in confined spaces, keeping the ball on the ground and at their feet.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mv26UQV64Vo Carrabuh you have signed a very good technically gifted player who's defending has a lot to be desired, if he was playing for Barca he would be world class. I have always liked Big Whittaker on his day is immense but is very inconsistent! Whittaker is also a very versatile player, has played for Rangers at both full back position CB, CM and on both wings! I would say he is better suited to an attacking 3-5-2 as the wing back.
Apparentley you are after an other Ex Ranger Chris Burke, from the looks of it McNally is going to turn yous into a very attacking team?
no, hoolahan plays in the hole. we have bennett who plays on the right but he too can play a number of positions. love burke's energy. good crosser too
Very good crosser, I dont know your situation with Holt, but would definetley give the big man the ammunition!
