Name one manager who has succeeded then? And then ask why Beckham played well for all those managers that Gerrard failed for!!! Gerrard has been nothing but a "brand" for the past 4 to 5 years whilst not being good enough. TBH I am surprised that Liverpool have stayed so loyal to him rather than replace him with a new improved model.

Laughable. Gerrard has never been as good as Schweinsteiger is, was or will be. That is the problem. Gerrard has been good in spells for his whole career. Blood and thunder which our media lap up and fans adore but over the whole 90 minutes and over whole seasons that isn't good enough.

Consistently good players are much better than occasionally excellent players. Consistency wins things. occasional flashes don't. Liverpool have had quite a lot of inconsistent player over the past 25 years. Players that are at Liverpool for year after year with their fans clinging to moments they produce whilst not being consistent enough to produce results. Would take a brave manager to make the big decision of replacing Gerrard and Brenda looks like he is hoping he fades away naturally.

Like I said before. England made these mistakes for years where other countries don't. If we had picked players to fit the tactics rather than try and shoehorn players into a formation then it would have been a simple decision. Scholes would have had 100+ caps and Gerrard / Lampard would have been subs throughout that time. Scholes was world class and consistent.
 
Still this countrywide delusion amongst many that some English players are as good as overseas players.

The facts remain:

Foreign clubs don't buy English players
Our own domestic league has more foreign players than English players in it
England as an international side, are ****

Gerrard as good as Schweinsteiger?! That's just mental.

He has been **** for England. No doubt. I have wanted him to be great, because I still remember watching him as a young man taking the field against us and looking like some kind of God among boys. He had something superior about him. But it never really happened for England.

In other news...... Southampton announce link with LFC and will now act as the superior European giants feeder club.
 
Liverpool and England can't afford to carry Gerrard. Rodgers always had two central midfielders on the pitch to try to baby sit Gerrard and they still leaked goals for fun last season. Personally I think they'd have won the title playing Leiva all season over Gerrard. Suarez taking all the pens and free kicks. England playing with just Henderson to protect Gerrard was laughable from Woy.
