So it looks like Steven Davis heads the list of players leaving Rangers in the awful situation facing the club. Would you have him back? I know it didn't work out too well for him when LS brought him here but he always had potential and at the age of 27 he could well be at the pinnacle of his career at the moment so would you take him back on a free transfer? I think he's certainly worth a look at.

Other players that could be decent signings are goalkeeper Allan McGregor and winger Kyle Lafferty. What do you guys think?

I suspect Davis would face an uphill struggle to gain acceptance from the fans, so he'd probably need to hit the ground running. That's easier to do for a striker - a couple of early goals put everyone on your side, as the Pog showed. A lot of what a central midfielder does is less obvious - hence the division over whether Sidwell was great for us or a liability (which I suspect we'll be having a lot more of this coming season if he gets back to fitness). I'm not saying it would be a bad move - to be honest, I haven't seen enough of him in either a Fulham or Rangers shirt to base a judgement on - but it wouldn't be an easy one for him.

I always thought Lafferty was a striker. Wikipedia backs that up, but his goalscoring figures are a lot less worrying if he has been playing as a winger! You know how we often wonder if prolific strikers in the Scottish league can reproduce those goals in England? Well, let's just say that doesn't look like a conversation we'd be having about Lafferty!

Most certainly not.
As a premiership club we should not even being associated with
every freebie that cones on the market, lets set our sights a little higher.

Celtic have coined the name 'Laugherty' when referring to Lafferty, so that tells you all you need to know.

On the topic of Davis. No thank you. He has found his level in the SPL against the likes of Dunfermline, Inverness and Dundee. People do well over there for a reason...

I know the quality of the SPL is poor but in fairness to Davis he has probably been the best player in the league for the past four years. I'm not saying he is going to set the world alight but on a free he mightn't be a bad signing.

My memory of Davis was he was absolutely shocking. Then went to Rangers, played in the Champions League and looked very dangerous. Regardless of whether we wanted him or not (and I don't believe we do) but whether he would want us - and given his performances last time, I just don't think he would want to. He clearly didn't want us last time and I don't see why that would have changed.

South Hampton would be a better fit for Davis. I presume Carlos Bocanegra will be leaving Rangers, but I wouldn't want him back, either. It's time for him to go back to the states and enhance some MLS team.

I watched Ranger occasionally last year, but I can't think of one of their players I'd want - Maurice Edu included.
