When asked as to whether he'd done enough to earn a contract, the diplomatic (and correct) response would have been - "that's not up to me, it's not my decision". Saying that he thought he had was the wrong reply.
Don't get me wrong, I like confidence. It's a good trait, but "own trumpet blowing" can project a tinge of arrogance. It's fraught with the danger of nasty comebacks - both for him and more importantly as far as I'm concerned, the club.
Thoughts these in the know people with their sources are attention seeking clowns who know feck all.

The guy I was talking to is a genuine fan, season ticket holder and has provided some previous titbits which have come off.
True Sparks, but if he has the confidence in his own ability why not put it out there?
Should he fail he will certainly be reminded of this statement but now he is a known quantity and if his success continues then he should certainly be offered an extended deal, once we know we will not go down.

I'd have been much happier if he'd batted away such questions and let the teams actions on the pitch get him the job.
He's had 15 league games since he got the job and we were 20th in the table when he took over. 15 games into his tenure and we're still in 20th albeit with a decent points gap to those below. That has broadly come about since the transfer window additions which has really been a watershed for him. If those new additions carry on in the same fashion and bringing them in was all down to him, he deserves huge credit.
His potential is very ecouraging as is his tactical shift away from our previous agricultural style, but the hard evidence of lasting "success" is sparse. Plenty of time to promote yourself once the turnaround has more legs - at the moment, the last 3 games don't make a season.
When we're safe and his job for 21/22 is mathematically done, that should be the time to promote himself.

All I will say though is that he's dealing with footballers who are generally ego maniacs, and he's operating in a world that increasingly respects self promotion.
I would imagine that he sees any self- effacing as a sign if weakness that could be jumped on by the dressing room.
Yeah, I know it's armchair psychology. Just a theory and not a fervently held opinion.
Hopefully he'll learn humility with further success.

Hmm, did Clougje learn humility? He was also a brash upstart. Morison is putting his money where his mouth is. Fail and he’s back to square one, succeed and he’s the dog’s bollocks. From where I am, I haven’t seen things up close, unlike you guys.

That’s a good decision. He has a vision and wants to succeed which is totally different to the idiot decision to give MM an extension.
City now need to back him with a strong summer rebuild.

Can't imagine we had the money to do anything else but I'm ok with it. Given the players he brought in on loan, he seems to have an eye for what's needed. Not that he'll have much of a budget to work with.
The amount of budget depends very much on the court case outcomes. However he has shown he can do good work in the loan market and this is likely to continue.
He has earned this opportunity which now gives him the chance to build for next season.
I dont believe he will rest on his laurels like MM as he has his managerial career ahead of him and will want to do well.
One doesn’t want to think about where we’d be without our new loan players which was all down to Morison (and Wintle coming back).
He now needs to get rid of the dead wood and bring in better players and keep on bringing on the youngsters.
You'd like to think that once we do offload a few of the older, surplus, more expensive (ie higher paid) players, that some money can be made available to him for the necessary rebuild.
I'm certainly not talking about big spending but rather careful recruitment at a sustainable price... Promising players that we can help to try realise their potential rather than the big earning, established old heads we've generally seen under Warnock and McCarthy.
Time will tell though....

What does he do with Smithies eg who’s on disproportionate wages?
Surely it’ll be thank you and ta ra to Pack, Bacuna and Vaulks. Those midfield 3 have been detrimental to the team this season.
What to do with Morrison who’s long term injured?
And Flint? Will City keep just one experienced CD and look either to replace or bring on Denham?
Presume he’ll want to retain Ralls for his team presence and experience even though he is getting slower and more injury prone.
Of those in contract he should be looking to ship out Nelson and Collins.

Ralls, one of the CBs and one of the keepers.
No one on a salary higher than expected for our position in the championship, including Morrison / Flint and Ralls.
Glad Morison is sorted for next year so he can get on with the rebuild planning.
Hope he gets a few bob to get a few players. Hugill and Uche for a start.
Always worrying when you're so dependent on loanees.
