Big mistake for Stevie Me. He should've stayed at Rangers. Would've learned far more if his aim is to manage Livpl one day.
Yeh hes gonna learn more up in jockland with no competition. Just say you're shook and hating cos villa have a better manager than you
Blueman pissed cos his club legend got dumped like a sack of worthless **** Trebs pissed cos his club legend has made his club a laughing stock. My club legend can do what the **** he wants at villa and i wont care. Levels
Bro I'm more chill than an eskimo's underpants. You ain't winding anybody up. Apart from Trebs maybe coz Gerrard is defo better than Ole
No mate, you don't get it because you don't fully understand the rivarly and the pressure it brings being either a Rangers or Celtic manager. Granted it's a weaker league, but he will get away with performances at Villa which he simply wouldn't at Rangers. Over there if you lose possession in the first 5 minutes at home the crowd is on your back. That's relentless for 90 minutes. The pressure is on to win every game. Dealing with that year after year will have grounded him more to "levels" far more than he will do pissing around with Villa. Then couple that with the challenge of European football. First actually having his team qualify for the CL, but then the regular routine of competing in the group stages and who knows developing a Rangers side that could've taken them to the knockouts. The domestic league may not be all that, but playing against European clubs every year would also have given him good experience. Compare that with Villa. Finishing top 10 with the aim of hopefully trying to finish 6th. He does that for 3/4 years and then what? It's like treading water and fck all else tbh. The thing about managing a club like Villa... no matter how much you improve it, it will ALWAYS end in failure.
Poor old geezers all over the place bless him, soon as it looks like they're gonna make it big.. one of the proper big clubs steal it away
Not sure I agree here. A monkey in a suit could get Celtic or Rangers in the top 2 in the league every season, as their budgets completely dwarf those of their peers. That doesn’t mean Gerrard deserves no credit for winning them the league after their climb back from the abyss, but it’s all relative. Staying there would be the easy option, instead he’s chosen to test himself in the PL with an under performing Villa side. He’s going to learn more managing in the best league in the world as opposed to staying at a big club in a pub league in Scotland.
It’s like saying Ole should have staying at his big club in Norway, even though they played fishermen every week, as they got into Europe most seasons to lose to some plumbers from Estonia.
I've already addressed that in my post so no point repeating it. The expectations are not the same and he just won't face the same pressures. I doubt he'd be settling for Top 2 either. Or the club or the fanbase. And I doubt he'd be playing for just the domestic trophies. All things he has the resources to punch above. At Villa he'll be expected to get draws and losses and many will settle for that as long as he has a reasonable season. Finishing 10th will be the par score, finishing 6th the pinnacle. Really don't see how that prepares him for LFC. I'll also repeat this. However much he improves a club like Villa, it will always end in failure. David O'Leary, Martin O'Neil, Dean Smith are all testimony to that. Ironically I'm looking at it as what's best for Gerrard, I should just be happy he's fcked up
