KIO, sorry about the slaphead but it was deserved, the issue about his lack of qualification was covered several times. As for defending the board, I have to say I'm very disappointed at the language used toward Delia and Michael, I will just say this to the moaners, "If you are willing to put in £12M of your own money and not worry about getting it back, then step up to the plate, otherwise, show a little respect to a couple that have put their money where their mouth is!"
They have made some howlers but not intentionally and without their money, we would not even have a club to support, we came bloody close even with their money!
They have been undeniably great for NCFC, but maybe, just maybe, the best way they could serve the club is to move on.
Unintentional howlers are still howlers and the people are culpable. A condensed version of something that happened to a colleague "I didn't meant to give my patient drug x, it was a genuine mistake, but the patient died" ?What do you think happened to my colleague? The Club has been up for sale ' unofficially ' for some time but nobody suitable wants to buy it. The mega rich Arabs and Russian Billionaires are not interested in Clubs like Norwich but an asset stripper would be - be careful what you wish for !!
I know, I did think it was a bad analogy, but I guess my point was how many howlers are you allowed to make? Decisions that are made at the board level affect a high number of folk employed by the club, its a business that needs to succeed
There will be NO DOF, but rather a 'technical director' who will be responsible for all other duties apart from running the first team. That includes players fitness, nutrition and loaning players out.
Fully agree Dave. Nobody knows what goes on in the background. We all knew Adams was on the short list which meant that he might get the job - I can't recall there being a groundswell of opinion that he shouldn't be on that short list. Who knows what happened apart from the Board? What about if it was down to 3 people after interviews and 2 candidates turned it down when the job was offered - Lennon because he is going to Spurs or WBA and Malky because he is going to Celtic. That just left Adams who then got the job - if he didn't why would he have been on the short list? Has there been confirmation of Foley's job? On the radio phone in McNally said that the technical director would ' advise the Board on technical and football matters to help the Board make their decisions and would not be involved with the Managers job in any way ' If that is Foley's job then all other aspects of his ability are irrelevant. Surely the appointment of the coaching staff is down to the Manager so if Foley is coming as a Coach it is Adam's decision and not the Board's. I'm no happier than the rest of you about the overall position but Adams appears to have got the job by default and we do need to accept that and hope for the best rather than blame Delia & Co for something they could do little to change. I will say that if Adams first decision was to appoint Foley as Coach I will be genuinely worried - whats next - Theo back from Australia as goalkeeping coach?
The issue is that when you have a short list you don't have to appoint the 2nd or 3rd choice, if they are that inflexible- then I'm lost for words.
i think some people seem to be getting their directors of football mixed up with their technical directors as JR mentions, its the latter of the two we are appointing, which ironically, given the inexperience of the man we've appointed as manager, is probably the wrong one and we should have gone for a director of football instead who could work the transfer market! typical.
I'm sorry if this is offensive but this does show your lack of knowledge on the subject. Just research the answer to your own question and you will realise what sort of position we would be in now if Delia had bowed to fans pressure to sell at the time!! As I have said before - be careful what you wish for - there are lots of worse owners than ours and very few better.
i think the board should rightly be criticised and quizzed about how they came to this decision, but i think the abuse is uncalled for. they've done a great deal of good for the club over the years - indeed were it not for first delia and michael, and secondly mcnally, its doubtful we would have a club to argue over these decisions.
So what do you do? Start all over again? Who is going to be available this week who wasn't available last week? What is the point of a short list if it contains people who you think can't do the job? If Adams was on the short list it was because the Board thought he could do the job and even though he may have been 3rd choice he is still the best available, in their view, when the other 2 turned it down. I fear that you are letting your obvious displeasure at the end result cloud your judgement as to how the decision was reached.
