RDM won't be going anywhere. I heard he has a 4 year contract that Chelsea are still paying him for and if he takes a job he loses that. He's on a stupid amount as you can imagine. Shame because he's a good manager but a greedy ****.
Ok, rather than just say that which doesn't at all keep the conversation going forward maybe try and make a point when disagreeing with me, it helps everyone Because if you don't believe that a decent manager wouldn't have had you up by now then I don't think there is any helping you. With the team you have it is a crime that you haven't been promoted yet Pearson continually gets given more chances. I agree with stability at a club but you need to find the right manager before providing stability.
Chelsea are paying him 130K a week Absolute madness Chelsea still owe him 3.5M which he could lose if he takes another job
Hes not exactly been successful at Watford this season, i don't think any WBA fan would be happy with that appointment. Unless WBA owners also own Barcelona, then Zolas perfect for the job
Watford wont appoint a manager. It will be a head coach Zola coached the players but had very little say in new signings.
ARGH! I hate that people STILL think this about us and NP. Why does everyone think that all Pearson has done is turn up with a blank chequebook, spent a billion pounds and failed to get us promoted? Let's look at the team he inherited, just going to post the team that lost 3-0 at home to Millwall in Svens last game in charge... Leicester City 01 Schmeichel 02 Peltier 03 Konchesky 06 Bamba 12 St. Ledger 10 King 17 Johnson 19 Wellens 22 Abe 20 Beckford 35 Nugent Substitutes 21 Weale 04 Pantsil 11 Dyer 26 Fernandes 13 Vassell He has had an unbelievable amount of deadwood to sort out, and players on ridiculously high Sven wages to shift. That alone is no easy task (that's just a job and a half on it's own, and one that is still not even complete now!). Obviously these players needed replacing (or we wouldn't be able to put out a team!), but he's hardly been spending like there is no tomorrow (a la Sven...). Of those 16 players mentioned above, only 5 are still with us. He's basically had to knock the whole team down and start again. The others have (rightfully) left, due to being pants (see Peltier), or on too much wages (Beckford). I'd look at the bigger picture, rather than the oh-so-simple view that he's spent a fortune and hasn't won us the league already.
In my opinion, we havn't had a team that 'should' be promoted since his return. This is the closest we've come but we're still missing at least two wingers, a striker and a backup goalkeeper.
So he has had to replace players, so has every manager. He still bought players to fill those gaps but has wasted money, look at Wood, spent 1.5m on him and he doesn't even play. Vardy was a flop last season and he spent 1m on him. On paper your team have been one of the strongest teams in this league for a while with a very large wage structure, the best he has managed is one top 6 finish (which you scraped into) in which you got knocked out in the first round anyway. But hasn't Pearson already spent millions on Knockaert and Marshall who were wingers and millions on Vardy and Wood who are strikers. Obviously you have sold Marshall now but you guys rate Dyer as one of the best wingers in the league. I guess if you guys are happy with Pearson that is fine but from outside looking in it has looked like he has done a poor job and that is why I don't think WBA would look at him.
They aren't really over achieving. They're only two points clear of the relegation zone (surprised me as well given their impressive results earlier in the season), which is about right for them really. What made me laugh though is that when I saw it on another site there was a WBA fan saying they didn't want Di Matteo because he'd never shown he could do anything at a decent level. I guess the Champions League isn't good enough for test for managers for some Baggies fans.
Yeh every new manager comes in and makes changes, obviously, but not to the extent of what Pearson has done. It's been a tough job, far tougher than you give him credit for. As I said, it's not like he turned up with an already decent squad and a blank chequebook. "Spent £1.5m on Wood and he doesn't even play"... He started off very well for us, has admittedly tailed off, but the form of Nugent and Vardy have been keeping him out so far this season. It's definitely not money wasted. As for Vardy, see above... I agree he struggled last season, but it was a big jump for him and it has taken him a while to settle. Looking good now though, mind. "On paper your team have been one of the strongest teams in this league for a while". Shame football isn't played on paper then, eh. If it was, we would have won the league with Sven in charge first season. Instead we ended up with a team full of ego's on ridiculously high wages. I'm happy with Pearson, think he's doing a good job. For the record, I agree with you and don't think WBA will look at him. But they will definitely not be looking at BMD either.
