It’s all Steve’s fault. He’s the manager. If he can’t manage them to get results then he is at fault.

The stick is provided by him constantly getting things wrong. Players out of position. Sticking with the same players playing poor. Throwing people under the bus. Blaming everyone but himself.

His track record speaks for itself. The stats. He’s proved to be a poor manager in the premier league and he continues to be.

Again this is all irrelevant to the discussion point. Which was did he throw ASM under the bus? No he didn't. You could argue he threw Shelvey and Longstaff under the bus, although he didn't actually name them, it doesn't take rocket science to work out that crap quality supply from midfield means those two.

Most certainly does. I'd say he has to take the lions share of the responsibility for any performance, the life of a manager. I was simply pointing out he didn't blame ASM in the press at all and people have struggled to stay objective about him from day 1. GG and Chaos being two of the largest jackanory's when it comes to him. Pardew had it the same from some of ours.

It was actually quite the opposite with ASM, he was excusing him because of a lack of quality supply from the midfield. He is 100% right about that too. Obviously that is partly Bruce's responsibility because he picked Shelvey and Longstaff. Would it matter who he picked? In the main no, but young Willock looks better with the ball than both so he did have one better option in my humble opinion.

What I would say also is its not always the managers fault. Players have to take responsibility themselves too for how they perform. Bruce, Rafa, Pardew etc can't go and kick the football for them.
Please remind me (the jackanory) what position ASM plays please. And then explain to me why he wouldn’t come deeper to get the ball. Is that because he’s not a striker?

Please also provide me stats as to why I am wrong about Steve Bruce being a bad football manager:

Hmm except he didn't did he? He suggested that ASM played too deep due to frustration at the poor quality of supply to the frontline. As in he was asked a pointed question why ASM hadn't lit up proceedings like in previous weeks. He was basically defending him, and actually had it spot on. The central midfield again weren't good enough, the supply to the front three was comical in terms of quality, so ASM went searching like many good players do to try and change the game. This resulted in him dropping deep looking for the ball, which meant he wasn't using his energy in the right areas.

I can't actually argue with Bruces assessment of ASM's performance at all. He's right it wasn't his fault, it was other **** hawks.

Another one for the "I'm desperate to blame Bruce for something" bin.

Still a ****e manager of course but I think its best to keep it in the realms of reality.
Bollocks mate...Bruce is looking for a scapegoat plain and simple! If he didn’t pick lazy arsed ****ing no marks week in week out players like Almiron and ASM would be able to be deployed in their preferred positions. Therein lies Brucey’s next conundrum in that he hasn’t got a ****ing clue where they are best deployed. This is the guy, the very same guy who picks Joelinton week in week out, refuses to drop Shelvey, puts Hendricks in the team ahead of others and thinks that Jacob Murphy is a ****ing right wing back! His decision making is ****ing laughable. He’s got lucky in so many more ways than one this season. The team has picked itself on occasions as have the subs he’s had to work with but **** me he’s made some absolute howlers! The luckiest fact of all being that he’s had the luxury of playing at home and serving this ****e up to us whilst we’re sat at home watching it (those who can bring ourselves to of course) as opposed to being in the ground baying for his ****ing blood! Sheffield Utd can’t come quick enough for me, I hope he’s having ****ing nightmares about it already and I hope he has 12500 geordies ripping him a new one and giving it to him with both barrels...it’s nothing more than he deserves and it’s long overdue!

I would quite happily break my self imposed SJP exile and buy a ticket for that ****, I really would! Knowing our lot they’ll probably close the Milburn Stand so nee ****er can get within earshot of him!!

Again irrelevant to the point at hand. I also think Bruce is poor football manager and I can present the stats to prove it too. So I can't really show you any stats otherwise because I don't think you're wrong about that. But then I've never said that so this appears to be another irrelevant question.

Lets stay on point. He still didn't throw ASM under the bus did he? That's the thing actually being discussed. He actually defended him by saying he got crap quality ball or no ball, went looking for the ball to make something happen. The fact you want to ignore that in favour of telling us how bad a manager is, I can't really help with that.

For information ASM plays largely as an attacking midfielder/forward. So as a manager you'd like him to largely be playing in the last third of the pitch. There will be occasions he will be deeper. I'd say however it stands to reason you get most out of them when you have them operating closer to the opposition goal.

This is all irrelevant to the discussion point. That is did he try to scapegoat ASM? No he didn't. If anything he scapegoated Longstaff and Shelvey by accusing them of forcing ASM to come deep because of their crap supply line.

Ok!

The footballs crap, but is rather win ugly than lose playing pretty football.

The fans are so far into the Bruce hate argument that they're dragging up stats left right and centre to try and save face, but I'm sorry it's far better to just say "fair play he's doing very well and I was wrong".

They'll instead continue to hate on him and wait for something to go wrong because its actually all about them not losing an argument.

No dignity, it's embarrassing, it throws out food for the media who already hate the club because of them.

Time to stop digging it will only make the apology even harder.

I agree, but since this comment the footballs improved too

He's been talking again. Dust himself down this time (literally said it).

I wouldn't look for it, it's just typical self-pitying horseshit.

To be fair I liked his comment on the award. Giving all the praise to the players and staff. Fat Sam would have said "Of course I've won it I'm ****ing brilliant"
