All half decent managers would look at the NUFC job currently as the poisoned chalice. Every man and his dog knows that under MA your on a hiding to nothing.

So unless there is some form of golden nugget, i.e a guarantee the takeover is on AND the opportunity will be there for that person once it happens to give it a go i am afraid we are stuck with the has-been tyre kickers.

If I was Eddie Howe I would either take the Celtic job when it comes available or wait for another mid table PL job. How much longer can Hodgson go for at Celtic?

Hodgson is on borrowed time at Palace.

Neil Lennon will be sacked.

To be fair, Newcastle is a bigger job.

Become our manager, does a good job, new owners would keep him on and back him.

Imagine his profile then.

If we get taken over. Howe can go to Celtic and be playing champions league football next season.

Roy Hodgson will last the rest of this season but they wont renew his contract, I don't think thats much of a trade secret. They've been pretty transparent.

In hindsight, my lambasted opinions on David Moyes were bang on the money and we should of grabbed him when we had the chance, found his mojo again and West Ham look in great shape. It's been sharp improvements ever since he took the job.

He is doing a superb job.

He is doing a superb job.

He's a good manager, he went into a slump after the Man Utd job imo and tried to be clever with his next two jobs. He thought "go to Spain, do a top job and everyone will think "wow, he's great."

after that the Sunderland job was I think a bright idea to pop to a struggling side which saw Big Sams reputation rebuilt and try and bring them up the table, he underestimated how decimated Sunderland were as a squad and a club and I think saw the writing on the wall in his first match, they were clueless. I've never seen a manager be so open and honest about how poor his side was.

He's proven that he can still do a job and he's nowhere near the level of "****e manager merry go round" like people thought.

He is at the right club. Similar to Everton.

I am with Carra btw in that Newcastle are a similar club to West Ham and Everton, it's heartbreaking to see the progress they make compared to us.

We are. We should aiming for top 8. Next level requires stability, long term plan and finances.

I think it would take about 3 years of diligent effort to surpass both. Bold claim, but you could re-do the training ground for £10m, build a decent backroom to deal with youth/scouting almost overnight and then set people to work on the stadium with change from another £5m, give another £5m to Rafa to oversee it all and ensure relegation stays away for another couple of years. Offset more or less all of that against reasonable commercial deals to replace the utter turd from Sports Direct (I'd literally ban MASH businesses, sign exclusives with Amazon & JD Sport). Start looking at our US fanbase for expansion, as well as looking East.

All of which costs around half a Joelinton to make us decent. Quite how Mike Ashley doesn't see that is ****ing astonishing.

Good manager at the level he is working at. Can’t make that final leap.
