Because, as I said in a previous post, the owners of the club want what is best for both the club and themselves. In most clubs and owners eyes, staying in the Prem is the most important thing, mainly as it creates a much higher income than any other competition. They have a different mentality to the ordinary fan. If 'the ordinary fan' ran every club, most of them would be dead in the water. I hate to say it, but it is true.
I to would have loved nothing more but the team that played should have been good enough to see us through over two legs
Yeh that's true. To be honest, the first leg cost us and I knew it on the night. Huddlestone's penalty almost cost us and I knew lightning wouldn't striker twice to come and rescue us in the second leg. I think what leaves a bitter taste is Brucey's attitude towards the whole thing. You're about to make history at a PL football club and you downplay the whole thing and show a little lack of interest. You could hear it in his voice. I wish he had just pretended to care a little more let's put it that way. Anyways, let's win vs Villa and all eat some humble pie.
Do you want to tell your Grandkids that you stayed up or that you made it to the group stage of Europe (maybe furher)?
I'm gutted we've gone out tonight, but i wish Lokeren and their fans the best in the groups stages & their domestic league. It was an opportunity to make history, & like a typical City team we've let it pass us by. Beating Villa won't be too much consolation. But to slag off Bruce is over the top.
I dont believe he wanted to go out, but to do stay in the premier league and compete in europe, plus english cups games, you need a pretty solid squad, we have shown today we are too thin upfront, bruce put a team out that he thought deserved their chance, unfortuntely they proved him right that the squad is too thin in many areas!
Would you have said that when we were having bucket collections in 2001 at Boothferry park Don't let em scarper like Stevie Harper A little bit more for Ridney Rowe ?????
I have to admit I'm gutted and angry. I have lost some respect for Bruce. I don't see what has to do with the owners what side is pick. But I suppose Bruce has look after himself and not risk relegation.
I would tell them how we went from being on the verge of not having a club to climbing through the leagues and establishing ourselves in the top division , I also take more pride in reaching the fa cup final than making the group stages of a competition many clubs don't even want to be in .
We've just chopped 6 games off our season We are now in the same position as everyone else so have no excuse about a long hard season
