I agree they were ****e, but to be fair they didn't get the best of service, Aluko had to come back to find the ball, and did **** all with it when he did. One plus Brady looked a bit more like his old self.
It's a good job Wigan didn't think that when they won the FA Cup isn't it. What's happened to the English spirit of wanting to win Cups It riles me no end
I'm sure the Belgium league doesn't generate the money the premier league does , Swansea reached the quarters and still only banked four million the figures speak for themselves as to which competition should be taken more serious .
I think the fact we didn't pose a goal threat in 180 minutes is the main issue. We got two goals completely against the run of play which mask the absolutely ****e performance of our front line in both games. It was evident from the lineup before the match both times that this would be the case.
It's a choice of which one takes priority and it's not the Europa league , I'm shocked people actually thought we would field a strong team ?
But does the club progress by finishing 15th every season? Or we just stabilise the ship. There's a point where you gotta update the ambition a bit. no? Every year we are likely to spend more and more and break transfer records (that's if we keep finishing 15th) but there's a point where progression needs to be made. And as finishing top 7 is unlikely to happen for a LONG time, why not grab the opportunity that is here, to enter the record books and progress the club when it is right in front of you.
I'm not sure what team wigan put out until they got to the final ? Plus I'm pretty sure if you ask most wigan fans would rather be in the prem than suffering relegation to the championship .
YES, absolutely true BUT you speak as if this was a coin toss between our last PL game of the season, where we need a point to stay up VS Lokeren match. Fact is, it wasn't. There's no way you or Brucey can talk about PL survival so early in the season. If you do then you might as well give me next week's lottery numbers. We could have taken more risk tonight. Being August and all. That's pretty much irrefutable. This was the best time possible to take any kind of risk.
This ^ Reading this makes me think that some our posters would be more suited to supporting QPR, apparently they love a good bit of drama down there! Unbelievable Jeff.
That is true, but how can 6 ****ing games in Europe equal true progression? The only way to truly progress in the Premier League is to finish in the top 7. An impossible feat for near enough every club outside of the big ones. Once you become a stable club, that is when a spell in Europe makes sense.
And being in Europe wouldn't give us increased income, a greater presence and the ability to sign better players??? Oh dear!
We're going to have to agree to disagree taking three points at villa in my eyes takes priority over progress in a cup we were never going to win , Bruce made the right call we won the game .
Well I really hope I get to see this again in my lifetime, I agree with you that the 6 games that would have followed, would have probably strained our squad and we probably would have finished bottom, who knows but it's a record book thing. I guess it doesn't quite feel like we've played in Europe until you get to group stages but that's just me. I think maybe it's a pessimist thing. We could be back in the Championship next season, Brucey ****s off, players get sold and we'll be wishing we had that European memory.
Disagree strongly. This tends to be a young persons attitude the apathy to anything not Over hyped premier league
Your over valuing the Europa league it has no pull what so ever the the chance for players to test their self in the premier league is much more of a pull , and see what I said about Swansea the figures for the Europa league are ****e even if you win it ! Hence the need to dangle the carrot of champions league football to it , if truth be known most of the bigger clubs probably wouldn't even want to be in it .
But then why even bother playing any of those lads if "we were never gonna win it". I'm just pissed because I would have been ok with him resting players in the group stages but to miss out on the group stages and seeing city in San Siro or something is rather annoying. I just wanted one last push into the group stages and would have felt overly satisfied with the achievement.
Nothing to do with a young persons attitude for hull city to progress we need to stay in this division , if truth be told we were not ready for Europe and didn't have the squad to compete on all fronts , who says lightning can't strike twice , I wouldn't rule out another wembley trip
