If we'd have lost this game to Bolton, for example, we'd be disappointed, but we'd be saying 'new players need a chance to bed in' etc etc.

We lost to the Mags, it amplifies everything, now is not the time to be casting an overall view.

That said, i think now would be the ideal time for a club to poach the best manager in the league after SAF, Mr David Moyes.

He knows he's hit a brick wall and ceiling at Everton, he is the ONLY man i would sack Bruce for right now, but if we aren't in a strong position come December 1st, then we'd need to look at having a new manager in for the January window, to fill the glaring holesin the side that Bruce seems oblivious to.

Sorry mate but this bit really gets me going, on what do we base this statement?

Has Bruce said w need a left winger, yes he has.
Has Bruce talked about strikers, ye he has.
Can Bruce write a cheque for 5-6-10-15 mil, no.

So why not start a thread, Short and Quinn out, well that may not have a band waggon behind it so lets hit Bruce.

Looking at the players bought I can’t help but feel his aim has been to build a defence who can be depended upon not to leak soft goals as in the past two seasons. For all the ranting by some you’re quite right Syd that maybe, just maybe, the monies not there. I still hope that of whatever is left, will be spent on the left side before upfront as I’m sure we now have the talent to score from the midfield breaking forward with Sess & co supporting Gyan.

I'm not even sure we have no money and I can still see at l east one more signing. It may well be that we have the player lined up just waiting for the right price. I have no idea but have to trust Quinn, he has done a good job so far.

Err we should have been a goal and a man down in the first half. So don't paint over the cracks you moron. Bruce could have picked a much better team. Instead he started the inept elmo when this game was crying out for Gardner or Vaughan. The guy is clueless.

Even pardew after a draw with arsenal doesn't rest on his laurels and made a change. Bruce only changes things when we lose. He's utterly useless as a manager and most importantly he's a mag. bruce out!

    Why?

You were correct in what you said about the goal and man down, and we were lucky that Webb was probably on his phone to SAF at the time and didn't see it. Maybe it could have been worse if he had.

I though this as well - I also agree with you about Catts breaking play up well (although his final pass was poor at times) but you never really saw Claude Makalele playing those fantastic slide rule passes to Drogba - He mopped up and let Lamps do the rest. I wouldn't personally have started Colback (although I thought he did well until he mis-controlled that ball into his feet on the edge of the box) - I'd have started Gardner personally in his role.

For me Mignolet was also very poor - totally uncommanding of his box. Anyone watching that game is going to tell his players to pump the ball over from the wings and let chaos ensue. I said this last season as well. Maybe time for Westwood to step up to the plate. A better keeper would have stopped that free-kick (IMO) It was good but I can't see Reina or Schwarzer (Or Gordon) letting that in.

Bruce has spent a bomb in his time with Sunderland and I think this season is the time to start showing it. He has a bit of a reputation of being a wheeler and dealer and in that department he is very good but when it comes to the bread and butter of actually picking a formation etc I think this is his downfall.

This season I think most Sunderland fans accepted that a mid table finish would again be on the cards but expected better derby performances and a good cup run (Carling or FA).

Still very early in the season so I am still prepared to back him and see where we are in January, but for some Sunderland fans I understand that for derby performances alone he should be sacked.

A comfortable win tomorrow should restore some confidence and hopefully take it into the Swansea game and nick a win there, which will restore a bit fo pride.

For some on here the love they have for Sunderland is matched only by the hatred of Newcastle.
    Sad really.

If you want to go right into analysing this, Ameobi fouled Ferdinand (blatantly tugging his shirt) in the challenge which led to the Newcastle corner which then ended up being handled on the line. So, all in all, it should have been a free-kick to us which would have meant that the penalty incident never occurred (and the fould was exactly the same as the stuff our players were getting penalised for all the time) Elmo is a right winger, Vaughan and Gardner are central - square pegs, round holes.

<doh> guess you can never get past this fact even though he has done a decent job last 2 seasons (and hit all of the targets we wanted him to)

Why because i don't kiss bruces arse so I'm a mag? Some very clueless fans on here. Bruce is no good for this club and Quinn must see this sooner rather than later

No not at all: I've had a look through the history of all your posts, and you have never missed an opportunity to slag off Sunderland and our players..I base my assumption on the evidence that you have so willingly supplied, and I'm pretty sure that you are a Mag...

    Neutral in peace.

Talk about sacking managers is rife at this stage of the season, a poor start often triggers fans to jump on the managers' back and demand he gets sacked. It's very rarely the case that a team, which has BENEFITED from wholesale changes, gels automatically and gets off to a flying start.

Sacking Bruce isn't the answer for Sunderland. You have the makings of a very decent side which is more than capable of finishing top half at a canter. Don't read too much into the derby game, look more at your resilient performance at Anfield, how many teams go there and take anything back with them?

What some of you are failing to notice is that Gyan actually is your out-and-out goal scorer. There is no chance in hell (unless Gyan gets a serious injury this week) that your owner will sanction a deal for a prolific goalscorer, even if you could attract one to your club. Gyan needs a decent foil, to knock down chances for him to pull defenders away from him and I believe that's what Connor Wickham has been bought for but he may not be up to speed right now.

Regardless of your hatred for the Mags, it's blindingly obvious that their centre halves dealt with anything you had with relative ease, it was a walk in the park for them dealing with long balls for the second 45 only made their job easier.

Good post mate..<ok>...There are some who have never wanted Bruce simply because he was a Newcastle fan as a kid, and will take any given opportunity to have a go at him..
