    Interesting question.

If we sell then I don't really care if it's in this country to use Suarez again as an example he would have strengthened a rival to the point that it would be crazy to do it, I don't see that as the case with Sterling.

If and I mean if he wants to go I'd say we could get £40 million for him in this country.

Cannot sell him to a rival - looks weak and will work against us.

£50m - not justified but we can deffo command that fee.

But I rather he stay to be honest - talented player.

Sterling's form has coincided with being shifted out wide either as a winger or wing back.

Get him back upfield, preferably as a number 10 or support striker and he will influence games.

There is no reason for us to sell for less than £40m IMO. There are strong rumours that Bayern are interested. But there is no way I would sell to an English club. It looks weak.

We have the power and leverage - no suitable bids come in, we keep a talented player. Get £40m, we can sign 2 quality, more refined players like Depay, Lacazette, Firmino, Carvalho.

    +1

I know he and his agent are milking the situation and are having us over a barrel. But I would bite the bullet and keep him. Unless it would bankrupt us. His age etc and his previous wage should not matter. IF he is key to us and if we think he is (could be ) a crucial player then he needs to stay. Even if it means paying him £200k/week.

We need to look at him like Real or Barca would. If they are willing to pay him that amount + a substantial fee then we simply as a big club cannot afford to let him go.

Are we destined to repeat the same mistakes again and again? Selling a good player for big money should not be viewed as an opportunity to bring in lots of VFM players. Spurs did that after Bale, We did that after Suarez and both of us got ****ed with bad buys. If we are to learn from our previous mistakes, we would bring in an even MORE expensive player to replace him! Not two quality players at half the price !

    200k?!

the way he's performed he isn't even worth 100k let alone becoming the best paid player in club history!

hes had 1 good season which was helped by the fact Suarez created so much space for him to exploit. Now he doesn't have that and he's become more of a marked man he's been average this season.

Hell never be a a good finisher (despite mcnulty claiming he may 'learn to be a natural finisher' spot the contradiction) so he'll always be an attacking midfielder but needs to add more to his game to be top quality.

In that case we'll have a long queue outside the door. At 20 years, he has many years at the top level and even at 28 he'll still command a fee more than >£40m. A no brainer for any top club.

Is he being used in the right way? In the right team and the right formation, he can be devastating. I can see him doing a great job at Barcelona or at Bayern.

Wouldnt get anywhere near their first team on a regular basis. Would be a bit part player for them.

Wouldbt get in in ahead of Messi Neymar Suarez or Pedro and wouldn't get in ahead of ribery and Robben and goetze at Bayern.

20% of what your getting if rumours are correct, however knowing QPR we probably sold the sell on clause for a 35 year old on 50K plus and a packet of magic beans

If he doesn't want to stay for a reasonable amount (and I use that phrase in the context of the insane amount players are paid these days)
then we let him go, as far as I'm concerned.
He's a good player with great potential, but a club simply can't allow players and their agents to have them over a barrel in this way. Otherwise it'll never end, and the next talented youngster who thinks he's God's gift will do the same, and the next, and the next.
However, as I said in the other thread, I don't think he's holding out for more, I think he wants success yesterday, and rather than working to become part of a winning team he wants to walk into one.
If that's the case let him go - and good luck, sunshine.

How much for-who knows? The market is mad anyway, so who can tell how much someone will throw at us? It's more about what we do with the money. £25m well spent is better than £50m thrown away.

I wouldn't sell him to a rival, even if it does bring in more- I think that sends all the wrong signals about the aims and self-belief of the club.

Leaving Liverpool can be the greatest mistake of his life. Wise for him to stay for another two years.
Apart from Arsenal, if he goes to city he's going to be a small fish in a big pond.
Going to Arsenal is no much better than staying with Liverpool in my opinion. No guarantee that
Arsenal is going win the league before Liverpool.:emoticon-0128-hi:

  16. As long as as we get the right sort of money for him, I don't care who he joins so long as its not Man Utd. They're the only rival side up would be willing to cough up that short of cash and him get into the starting line-up.

I say play hard ball. £50m abroad, £60m to another PL club.

"I think the kid has tried to put off all talk about contract and money. For now hopefully the focus will be on football."

He does like to call him boy/kid etc.
