The thing is none of us really know exactly went on so it's all speculation really. Gareth will know the situation and players best so I'm happy to trust his judgement on this one.

Now, there’s France, and there’s everyone else.

Germany, Brazil, Italy, Spain, none of those look that great at the moment whereas 20 years ago they’d all have beaten England, (and usually did).

What makes this interesting is that the manager has taken a stand against probably his (our) best player. Hopefully that will work out to everyone’s benefit.

Gomez went up to Sterling in the canteen with his hand held out and a no hard feelings comment at which point Sterling grabbed him round the neck, presumably after someone had handed him a ladder.

Southgate said in his interview that Sterling lost it "and in fairness to Joe, he didn't". All pals again now ..... allegedly
