Wouldnt be a bad thing as he might be able to make an impact from the bench as we still dont have a massive squad. Low wages and no risk so why not?
Dont have a massive squad? He be behind Park, Taarabt, Hoilett, Mackie, SWP and Traore for a place on the wing. We could do with dumping a winger, not gaining another one.
Would he not qualify on the U21 ruling though, so wouldnt officially need a squad place? If that was the case, then I would be happy to bring him back to see if he can break into the side. We are all a little bitter about him leaving, but I can kind of see why he did (at the time) and if he was to come back for a season and help us achieve our expections, then why not. Sure Liverpool would benefit (long term) but so would we (short term). Would expect them to continue to pay his wages as part of the deal so shouldnt cost us anything either...no wages, no fee, no guarantee of pitch time and no squad number...sounds like a good deal to me.
Personally not interested in Sterling for the reasons given above. BUT from the little I've seen of Bruno Andrade, the contract extension's pretty good news.
I don't blame him for going, but agree with the points above that we need to bring on our own young talent, not train up a bunch of other club's young players.
Liverpool would only loan him if he was going to play, we will have to drop better players in order for him to play. It makes no sense at all. He wouldnt even make the bench.
Seemed to have worked pretty well for a number of other clubs in the prem...Wilshire and Welbeck to name a couple...we are not really spoilt for choice with our own "young talent" right now, although looks like we are heading in the right direction so in a few years should start to see more frequent youth development. Whilst Liverpool may only loan him if he is going to play, we would never offer these guarantees (not many clubs would in this league)...if it was a deal as I suggested above, I would be interested. If it was a deal that involved guaranteed minutes/matches, then I would tell them where to go. Defo excellent news about Andrade...hoping we get to see a bit more of him over the next couple of seasons
Wilshere and Wellbeck are better players. Its makes no sense to get a player in in out strongest position. Now it might be worth a go if he was a FB or CB. Now I will assume Traore can play at LB so which 2 would you drop out of the squad in order to include Sterling? Park, Taarabt, Hoilett, Mackie.
Not saying I would drop any players Flyer...I am saying that it would be good to have a young sharp fit fast player in our squad who can push the other members of our squad. It would be for MH to judge if he deserves a spot on the pitch or the bench. Many players go through a poor run of form...whats wrong with having another option? ps. Has Hoilett signed yet?
I remember when he left QPR for Liverpool and i was sad that we lost such a good young talent. I watched him a bit on Liverpool TV, him and Ince (Blackpool) looked really good. He also scored 4 goals in a youth game final at Anfield that i watched. However... I listened to his old QPR coach on Talksport who said he was 'dissapointed' that he left for Liverpool, especially after getting on so well with the parents. He believed that he was better off at QPR as he would have kept his feet on the ground and developed in all areas of the game. The coach seemed gutted after all the work he put in. So... I don't want him back now. Let him stay in the Liverpool reserves or go off to Blackpool.
Out of interest is Troy Hewitt still on loan at Daggers next season? Would seem strange taking on one young prospect from Liverpool on Loan to fill a spot our own young prospect could have. Troy may not be as good as Sterling but at least he's ours. Although I personally think neither are close enough to being good enough yet to feature in anything but league cup games.
