Fair play to Sterling but think it is a little soon, Dyer or Sinclair or Lennon should have got the call up

    ...or Routledge.

Totally undeserved call up. He's not made a goal or scored a goal in only 2 Premiership games....it may be to ward off Jamaica but the decision is a complete slap in the face for someone like Nathan Dyer who has been causing Premiership defences all sorts of problems for 12 months now and, frankly, is the hardest working winger in the Premiership.

To be honest he's probably not going to play at all. James "I'm the love child of the previous 4 England Managers" Milner will somehow again get the nod ahead of everyone else out wide. I'd rather Sterling didn't play andor if he did, maybe get 5 or 10 minutes at the end if we have comfortably won the game, but do feel it's more of a call up to show he is part of England's future with Jamaica sniffing around as well.

this isall about which team was on their way with the sneiors and who hodgson could raid... it's ridiculous really... look sterling aint actually that good right now. loads of potential but its not a case of michael owen 1998 at this point in time. nothing could stop owen bar hoddle's reluctance to throw a kid into a world cup. at this time stelring is barely started and perhaps in 6 months time he might be delivering but right now he's playing for us and bette rthan downing but not settling the world alight enough to walk into an england squad so getting called up as others are injured is only going to create hype.

  5. Unless we are three or four goals up (unlikely) then Raheem won't even get on the pitch. I doubt Hodgson will put him on purely to stop Jamaica picking him. I'm also pretty sure that they have already approached Sterling but he wanted to play for England, I would guess that his inclusion would be quite a big indication that that may well end up happening too <doh>

Some people obviously haven't seen all 90 mins of Sterlings peformances this season. Totally deserved as he has been excellent and will be one of England's best wingers during the next 10 years. Thats obvious already so they are getting him in their early to convince him to shun Jamaica, and start getting him the experience of being in a full National side. Similar to what Eriksen did with Walcott.

His performance against City alone was good enough for FA/England officials to realise that he is going to become one of the best left wingers in the league pretty soon and that they need to get him declared for Ingerlund before Jamaica get dibs on him.

He's been our second best player this season and he's only played a few games, and coming second to the amazing Joe Allen is nothing to be bothered about.

For once I actually think Hodgson has made a good decision and agree with him, which makes a change for that buffoon.
