Carlisle have confirmed that Republic of Ireland defender Stephen O'Halloran has joined them on trial. The 23-year-old came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa, before moving to Coventry City last summer. He made 13 appearances in his solitary season at the Ricoh Arena before being released at the end of the season. O'Halloran will link-up with the Cumbrians for their pre-season training in July with a view to earning a contract at the club. Manager Greg Abbott told the club website: "He can play at centre-back or left-back. "He is a very tidy and comfortable footballer. We're really looking forward to working with him and we'll see where that takes us." O'Halloran is a senior international. He represented his country at under 15, under 16, under 17 and under 21 level. His two full caps came after playing friendlies against Ecuador and Bolivia under Steve Staunton's management in 2007.
