Just like jager, you ignore the answer that has been given you, what part of MilfySigurdsson answer don't you understand, and why would I throw away money on a bet of him playing at Swansea, when Rodgers has frozen him out all season, for those two donkeys Lita and Moore?? Perhaps you can digest Yankees answer as well, though I doubt you'd see the obvious point, and why would I want to repeat what others have obviously stated in answer to you! Is there something in the air, up in the Valley??.........................
I'm not ignoring anything, but I could say that you are ignoring the opinions of those who think that he will unable to do a job in the premier league. But each to their own I am actually on the fence on it as sometimes I think yes maybe he can do a job, but other times I think no. And are you going to answer who to drop from the first 11 for him to play ?
Why do you believe Rodgers to be a brilliant manager, yet disagree completely with his opinion of Dobbie? You have nowhere near the exposure to Dobbie's game as BR has had, so to question his opinion is, at best, madness, and, at worst, utter arrogance. Also, slating Moore and Lita is lazy and strikes me of someone who only sees the highlights of our games, and not the real thing. Plus, you mention Dyer, Sincs, and Graham giving the ball away lots, yet none of them play in BR's preferred position for Dobbie, so what's the relevance? Siggurdsson does and gives the ball away less; Augustien can, and does give the ball away too (which is why he does not start as often as I would personally like.) but not as much as Dobbs. Yes, Dobbs and Augustien are the kind of players who can offer an occasional bit of magic which can change a game, but this season in the prem, it has been possession and clean sheets which has kept us up, not goals, and Dobbie is not suited to a team required to achieve that aim IMO.
...but they will, Scott. They will. Dobbie not suited to a team that needs goals yet Moore is? Come on. You make the point about the other night and giving the ball away, and he did. But lots of players did, even Phillips who for me was MOM. The conditions were awful. Did Dobbie have a histroy of giving the ball away in the Championship? I think not. This debate has been done to death, but it's hard to disagree that he has not really been given a chance at this level - and before Norway chips in with his "9 appearances" argument, we all know that the vast majority of those were 15 minutes at the end of a game. One thing we can agree on, it's Rodgers's choice. He's the Gaffer. But if Dobbie has any sense he'd look to go where he's actually appreciated, and that ain't here. That way everyone's a winner.
Boom! What he said. Aussie, personally I don't think we should hang on to him as he'll probably be on decent wages with yearly rises and whatnot and I think he's not good enough to be pushing for a place consistently in the first team, so what's the point? We're in a position to bring in better players and we should be aiming to do that, not giving further time to a player who Brendan has clearly had a lot of time to assess and form his own opinion on. Maybe he will stay and get in the team, I don't know, but personally, I think the amount of times he loses possession is criminal at this level and we can't accommodate it, teams would slaughter us.
I'm torn about Dobbs as well. I love the guy and he is well capable (as we have all seen) of producing that touch of magic to win a game. But I see the other side as well. His work rate is very poor and he does tend to cough up possession too easily and too often at times. That flies in the face of Buck's ethic of respecting possession of the ball at all costs. Everyone loses it at some time but Dobbs seems to do very little to win it back when he does; and I would imagine that that could be upsetting to his team mates, who sweat buckets to get the ball back, let alone Buck. Shame, because if he didn't have this flaw in his game he would be a terrific asset for us.
Aussie, he DID have that habit of giving the ball away in the Championship, it's just with a lower standard of football you don't get punished so clinically, so it wasn't picked up on so much. I also think toward the tail end of last season we were playing much more attacking football than we've played this season and as has been said, he's not suited to a team that is primarily (at least for the first half of the season) more concerned with keeping the ball away from multi million pound superstars than in watching him try a flick and then losing the ball! (Harsh I know, but you get my point).
That is exactly what struck me watching the play off game. Yes, many players gave the ball away, and the conditions were awful, but Birmingham's failure to capitalise on their cheaply gained possession was noticeable through it's absence. What has been most obvious during this prem season is the increase in pace. The pace of individual players, and the pace of teams as a whole. No one can deny the existence of quality players further down the leagues, Trundle truly had magic in his daps, but the lack of pace means a progression to the prem is beyond them. Therefore, Dobbie, playing in our midfield trio, may contribute a few more goals but will ultimately cost us a few more goals too, due to the increased break away speed of opposing teams, and so his inclusion becomes something of a gamble; will he ultimately contribute more than he gives away? BR's possession footballing philosophy is based upon removing the element of chance, or luck, from the game, and so to include a known gamble in his team is, in some ways, to go directly against what he believes in. Dobbie, I believe, just doesn't fit into our premier league team, and a team like Blackpool, where each game is played as a gamble (you score 3, we'll try and score 4) is far more suited to him.
...and, Scott and Ivor, you basically said everything I said, but got it posted before me and with far less faffing filler! Haha, great minds.......
Not going this year mate! Bit of a fallout with the owner of the dive centre, and I've just had a promotion in work so not going too bad back in Swansea town! Good to be back to be honest. Big apple, I thought you worded it better than I did, I cop out of debates a lot at the moment, because I can't be arsed to properly word my responses, they end up long and windy and I feel like I'm ranting all the time! Much better when someone else says something I'm thinking, I can just agree with that instead then!
Off the phones now mate - quality control Planning a cheeky budget trip to Ibiza under the radar I think...
Before you go back out Scott, get a haircut son!....................... Apple I've seen enough of Moore and Lita to know they were a wast of money, and if I had my way they would be gone this summer, because what they have contributed this season, Dobbie could easily have done with greater goal threat too, not rocket science!............ He'll always be a Legend in my eyes................
totally agree with DPJ, moore and lita are a waste of space however i wish Dobbie the best of luck with his future ventures even though WHU will flog blackpool
Not to bang my drum of repetition here, but Moore and Lita generally play in a completely different position to Dobbie. If either of you had been to our games, you'd be aware of this........................
He hasn't though? Everyone keeps saying that, but how often did Lita or Moore play in one of the "midfield three" positions? Dobbie played/plays, for us, at the head of a midfield three. Lita and Moore have either replaced Graham or played out wide - bar one occasion I remember.
