Thomas Frank would be still being paid by Spurs so could afford to wait round to a better job. Plus we say about him, but forget that Brentford are 10-12 years ahead of us. They appointed managers to work with what their sporting / technical director wanted. Look at all their past managers, it’s like a conveyor belt of improving as well as selling. Then they seem to drift off after the club pinched them sack them.

Mark Robins was good with Ade Vivash (now at Middlesbrough) but when they fell out Cov struggled hence they then got Lampard. Stoke not exactly setting the world alight.

Should have pushed to get Miran Muslic when we looked last summer from Plymouth. Now doing well at Shalk so no chance there.

I think it will be John Mousinho from Portsmouth.
But is Bristol City that much of a step up from Portsmouth ?
Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a good manager but he must surely have a desire to go to a bigger club than ours ?

Not really much of a step. Depends what we promise him, it’s Scudamore and Boss that will be driving this one with the new Sporting Director.
As long as Steve and Jon just fund it and leave to the others we should fingers crossed be moving in the right direction.

I voted ‘no’ in the poll, because I think that although he would initially bring us some publicity - we would be ‘Steven Gerrard’s Bristol City’, I simply don’t have any faith in his management skills.
The press would soon lose interest when we slip into mediocrity and they would only pick up again when he’s close to getting sacked.

Exactly bcfcred and what we do after he doesn't get the job we will return to square one. Lansdown knows full and well that no decent manager would want to join when they look at our shocking efforts to bring in well disciplined new players. Right now I can't see much of a decent squad that we can build on for next season so anybody who knows their stuff will clearly see how badly we have been run for about 10 years. I still would like Thomas Frank come to Ashton Gate but the pig that just flew past said NO. :emoticon-0136-giggl

prediction regardng WOY........

WITH THE RIGHT ASSISTANT COACH / staff! could he be tempted to stay on [ tempttion his not club driven ] a win Sat and projected . for a season ...... would have us on 69 points, around the 6th place needed to step in play off's.
next season there is potentially 5 reasonable teams coming into picture top 2 plus 1 of 3 coming down bottom 2 plus SPURS OR WHU....
SO LIKELY AT LEAST 8 FOR TOP 6
2 from current 2 from div1 2 from prem... plus additional 2 from current top 10 champs..........

what a challenge

I think the Sporting Director appointment is pivotal. If we appoint the right person and Steve allows him to run the club, set the direction of the club and our principles, the HC should then be selected in line with those principles. Also when the HC moved on for whatever reason the next one should be chosen to fit in with the system we chose, rather than swapping the system each time

We also need a reset in our player recruitment, and it needs to be aligned, so that we identify players that fit into our chosen style.

This is Steve’s last opportunity to set things up properly from the top down.

For too long we’ve lurched from one system to another, it’s meant we end up with an unbalanced squad, that doesn’t fit any system.

Every time we think that we have a good base of existing players to take us into the next season we shoot ourselves in the proverbial foot. This year we did in the middle of the season to destroy any chance we might have had at making the play-offs and I doubt that that crazy scenario was implemented by Struber. Last time to get it right for me but I won't hold my breath to await nirvanna.
