The helmet slowed down and as Lewis positioned himself the helmet changed lanes, if you or I did that on a motorway and it was recorded straight ban for dangerous driving, if the helmet gets away with that then this title race is being rigged
I've looked it up now - it was Belgium 2008 when Hamilton let Raikkonen past in such a way he could then easily re-take him. He got a 25s penalty for not giving back the place in a proper way.
That track should never ever ever be used again for serious racing Another case of dirty oil money buying up sport
Hahaha, just switched back to start watching Ted’s race notebook and he’s basically sucking Verstappen off saying he was in awe of all the risks that Verstappen took in the race. What a prize helmet.
Have I ever mentioned I was at Spa in 98 when Hill won Jordan’s first race ? I was at Pouhon when MS went by on 3 wheels . 3 wheels on my wagon , loads of us were singing . Yes I was a Jordan fan and yes I wore the shirt on the day . I will never ever forget that day
Regardless of who lifts the title...what a season this has been. It really is one that's going to stay in the memories of us all. Max and Hamilton are both on a completely different level to everyone else right now. Hats off to the pair of them. This has been bloody wonderful.
I was also at Pouhon! I reckon we both picked pretty good races to go and see, eh? It was annoying to leave the circuit delighted at seeing Lewis get a great result, and then to get a text from a friend before we’d even got back to our hotel in Liege with the news. I was not happy. It does explain the car load of tifosi gesticulating at us and waving flags on the motorway.
They have both been epic- a glimpse of the Senna Schumacher that we never got to see. Some exciting drivers heading into the new regs too.
Had he finished that, it would have been one of the laps was right up there with the best. Love seeing that kind of driving.
Can't believe I am watching the highlights on Channel 4 rather than MOTD There was so much to take in it left you exhausted
BBC article saying one of the best races ever. It really wasn't... The fact they're saying it and many might think this has me concerned for the the future of this sport if I'm honest. It was a pathetic race... Can't say it wasn't a spectacle... But for all the wrong reasons imo.
I am left speechless after that race, it had just about everything. If you wanted to make a film about motor racing and they used that as a script you would say, "that is not the real f1". I hope we go into the next race with no penalties in terms of grid position or points. A warning issued to both Max and Lewis, any dirty driving that results in an off for the other driver they will have points deducted. This would ensure we have a clean race. Bottas and Ocon at the finishing line would normally be the story but not today. Lewis showed maturity, another driver would have been sucked into the battle and lost his way against Max. Not sure George could handle this yet and whatever happens this year Verstappen will be at his most aggressive again next year. Max considered he had the right to run Lewis wide after getting away with it last time, what does anyone expect and of course he is now stating inconsistency. I would say Verstappen is just as bad as when he first entered the sport, in terms of his approach to the other driver. .
As a race, it was fairly poor...mostly a calamity... But as a stage setter for the finale... Immense!
You can't really be surprised at Max when you look at his dad. Apple and tree. Incredible race. Hope there's no more penalties and they can just now take it through to Abu Dhabi (and I include no penalties for the Leclerc/Perez incident either).
So errr, brake checking is now a 10s penalty. Max knocked back from P2 to (checks notes) P2 However, the sudden braking by the driver of car 33 was determined by the Stewards to be erratic and hence the predominant cause of the collision and hence the standard penalty of 10 seconds for this type of incident, is imposed.
