I dont think people are jumping on any band wagon , just realising that there is a need for a big call to be made and that it shouldnt not be shirked! Yes I applaud the positivity(some would say delusional in some quarters)Yes I applaud the loyalty to the present staff ! If we want L1 footy at the vic next year , then carry on ignoring the fundamental problems we have at the moment ! be happy that we only got beat 2-0 in the last game(this is a sad indictment in it self)! For me the need for change is obvious and necessary, because I hold this opinion doesnt mean I love the club any less Show me some tangible improvement , show me the orns getting more points soon , Show me that next years revenue stream will be cut further due to relegation will not happen! At the moment look at the facts 12 games =10 points that puts us on target for 38 points (go on work it out!) Surely it is obvious to all we have to break this trend! The players arent performing and neither is the manager (although with the team he has rather shot himself in the foot imho)! Therefore we need an overhaul of tactics and personnel! We also have to remember we are in the entertainment industry! watford playing entertaining football this season? (not often nor are they effective)! I dont buy this its far too soon crap ! If a person is ill do we wait until they become worse before starting treatment? Happy clap all you like ,but you cannot deny that there isnt a problem , Look through the yellow specs by all means but try to keep a little objectivity and realism! Hull away defeat again ? havent scored a goal for so long now law of averages state we must score even if its an og!best we can hope for a 0-0 or 1-1! CMON WATFORD turn it round make me eat a load of humble pie!
Put your thinking cap on Norway! It doesn't work like that - if it did we'd be safe. Why? Because: *Millwall 12 games = 9 points *Doncaster 12 games = 8 points * Bristol 12 games = 6 points - ergo we stay up. Go on, work it out! Yes, we have to break the trend. Yes, we will break the trend. Yes, you will get your slice of humble pie. Just be careful what you wish for - you may get it and regret it.
Anything can be proved with statistics - extrapolating 12 games is worthless SD has had 12 league matches - did anyone think he took the job knowing how to do it and being fully experienced - of course not - he has to learn and has to have time to learn - I never believed Watford supporters would be so quick on the "fire him" act. For those of you who would please explain to me the alternatives - and take account of the money you need for those alternatives.
Taken from another Forum but a good read! http://www.wfcforums.com/showthread.php?40149-The-view-of-a-pub-team-manager
A good read NH, and logical reasoning without being insulting or too damning. I personally feel SD should stay, but he needs to be brave and change it up a bit. Be brave, drop some of the underperformers, experiment a little. It's almost like he's scared to and hopes that the team will eventually just gel, without having a back-up plan. I'm not sure what the backroom staff are like, if they are just 'yes men', saying he is doing the right things... but maybe he needs someone to disagree and argue their point. A bit like Burkinshaw did with Aidy before Aidy got too big-headed! I still think the 5-sub rule had hit Watford one of the hardest. It's stopped SD picking a couple of the youngsters on the bench, where SD has gone for the more 'experienced' player, in the hope they could change a game, whereas you could take a bit more of a risk having a better mixture on the bench. Some times an older head will think about doing it, while a youngster will have no fear and just do it!
Interesting piece well thought out, like one of the replies said SD does come across as stubborn. I still don't think that GT has any input to SD on a working day to day basis, if he did he surely would have said something about tactics, formation and when to use subs!
In the interests of being fair ,I obviously disagree with this but........ http://natterfootball.co.uk/2011/10/a-manager-is-for-life-not-just-for-six-months/
I think we are all in agreement that if SD is to stay ,he needs to change and definitely needs a mentor (burky style)!
well know more in 28 hrs time, Hopefully we will have changed tactics , be giving a kid or two a chance and get 3 points !!! Just cant see it is all , not that Hull are particularly good , just that we are not yet even average!
Are we now not bothering to put points across but just links? Reminds me of a joke in childhood where Monks in a Monastery had told their jokes so often they resorted to shortcuts - "number 453 would say one and they would all laugh politely, number 236 would say another and another polite round of applause and then one called out 478 and they all fell about holding their sides - a novice turned to an experienced Monk and asked why they found that one so funny and he replied "because we have not heard that one before"
I think we are good enpough to stay up, but only because I think Doncaster, Coventry and Millwall are worse than watford
Have you watched any of these teams other than against Watford? We haven't even played Donny yet! What fixtures have these 3 teams played? Have they got players out injured that could turn their season around? Have they been playing well but not getting the results? Enlighten us please......
Well we beat Millwall at home and drew with Coventry away. Any other time you would say that is good enough, but suddenly its not?? If we can beat Cov at home and Donny Home and then get a point or more away to Donny and Millwall we should be fine. We might pick up more points along the way too. If you look at the squad we have only 5 of them were playing at the Vic last year (SL, AM, LD, JE, MS.) We have 6 new players in the team which as we know is being managed by a manager who is in his first season with a make-shift backroom which is almost all new too. I defy any of you to work in a 14 man for a year and then ship out your 9 most experienced workers and replace them with unknown talents and not loose productivity! It was bound to happen and as long as Dyche learns some lessons as do the players and staff we should be ok.
