Most of the wealth of Europe was "built" on slavery and so f.ucking what? Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece etc all had a hand in the subjugation of others during their respective histories.
The losers of the past are the same people today want to disregard the impact of the likes of Nelson on our place in the world from the comfort of their suede loafers and Kooples t-shirts. Get over it, we were an Empire ffs, we didn't get where we are by asking people nicely, we kicked seven shades of s.hit out of most of the world and took what we wanted.
What astounds me the most is the moaners like the twat in the Guardian article don't understand that everything is their history too. Taking down a statue because 200 years later you don't like how Nelson was as a person makes no sense at all. The fact that we were at war, one which we managed to win by the way, showed that when push came to shove he was the right man for the job and kicked Bonaparte's arse. "Oh but he had friends who owned plantations" Who the f.uck cares? What was he meant to have? Friends who worked part-time at Oxfam and recycled their soy milk cartons?
Hell in a handcart once again.

And replaced it with a giant needle
They don't really, they just want to get rid of the stuff and use it. They just have to ask you do you believe slavery is a good thing, everyone will agree it was a bad thing and they'll say then take the statues down. Try and say they should stay up and you're a white supremacist.
They just go with that narrative.
Put plainly why should someone of African descent tell the Brits what they should have in their public arena? It's like a 4th generation Paddy asking for Cromwells statue to come down.
