Nothing less will do.

No Statue for the manager.
No statue for the captain.

Easy choice now folks, want a statue?

I think they should put it on that roundabout at the north end of the humber bridge. Deano in the classic wembley pose volleying the ball right across the river south to welcome away fans that might come that way.
If they did put up a statue of Windass and did'nt go with outside the KC whereabouts would you like to see it erected?
We could always pull Victoria off from ove the bogs and have Deano instead in front of city hall :-)
 
you know on the monday after wembley when everyone was in vicky square and the players were on the city hall balcony and they'd already had a skinful and he decided to stand on the railing bit and i thouhgt he was giong to fall off? we should have one of him teatering on the edge of that. it would also signify city quickly rushing up from ground level when they arrived at the city hall which wuold then be a metahpor for the premier league and windass wobbling on the edge wuold be a metaphor for the time in the premier league after we stopped rushing to the top and spent ages teatering on the brink of falling out of it.

Either would qualify I reckon (Although I hear Ash is about to tarnish his reputation). Deano did a lot more than just score at Wembley. His goals kept us up the season before and they also helped get us to the play off final aswell. He is a local legend and 90% of people in Hull will probably know him so he'd be my choice.
 
My memory of Phil Brown's intervention at the Humber Bridge is fading a bit. If memory serves he single-handedly saved a coachload of ladies from the Women's Institute from being driven off the bridge by a suicidal driver. And didn't Bullard and Barmby try to stop Brown because they said it was too dangerous but Phil, as he tells it now, said, "No it's my duty as a human being to do something even though I'll probably die."

Ashbee scored the goal at yeovil which got us promoted and saw our push up the leagues take off, he's come back from 2 career threatening injuries and he was the most inspirational leader we had on that pitch. To say deano scored goals to keep us up doesn't sound hugely impressive considering he's a striker and that was his job :/
 
I'm not discrediting Ashbee in any way. Hence 'either would qualify'. I'm just not sure how Ashbee's upcoming interview will go down with some of the more fickle fans. Personally i'd be happy with either of them immortalised.
 
Yes Deano scored "that goal" but as any good player/manager/director of football/owner will tell you, the club is nothing without its fans. I think a much better monument would be something that acknowledged the input of the supporters over the years.

Fans that were there to see the 5 nil thumpings we received from abjectly poor teams. Fans that were there to see the club locked out of Boothferry Park. Fans that took money out of their own back pockets to make sure the players got played.

Windass and Ashbee both deserve recognition for their achievements with the club but I don't think it should extend any further than a plaque or possibly an exhibit in a club museum or something. No statues. And besides, which poor sod would they get to carve Deano's face out of bronze!?!?
 
what about doing the whole 2008 promo team and management as little figures in kinder eggs then everyone would want to collect the whole set.
