    We are screwed next season.

Ashley, being the coward that he is of course will not go to home games to face the music. Will let his minions sit there and take the flack.

Just seen them announce this on look north... they make a point of saying 'we asked for a photograph of Lee Charnley but were not given one.... although Sunderland's heirachy don't even speak to us now so they're as bad as each other'.

Probably in line for a nice bonus - how much was it that Sports Direct refused him? All those NUFC profits that aren't going to be spent need to go somewhere!

"Of our three core income streams - broadcast, matchday and commercial - it is only our commercial income that we are able to affect to any great degree, especially given our commitment to keeping ticket prices affordable for our fans."

When they get us relegated next year I think they'll affect our income streams a rather dramatically.

Mark Douglas trying to cheer everyone up a bit -

On signing only 1 or 2:

    Mark Douglas ‏@MsiDouglas 22m

Wouldn't read TOO much into it. Club said a few years ago 'no capital outlay' then signed Ben Arfa. They're always keen to...

    Mark Douglas ‏@MsiDouglas 20m

...depress expectations about signings. If they only sign 1-2 they're in bother. But understand they've looked at quite a few.. #nufc

    On Charnley:

    Mark Douglas ‏@MsiDouglas 18m

@cognoscentinovo shd be remembered Kinnear came in telling us he could deliver the world as well! He's a local bloke, a fan, experienced...

    On Ashley joining the board:

    Mark Douglas ‏@MsiDouglas 9m

@nufckeithr @davidpick1987 Apparently when he gets more hands on stuff does get done. Let's see...

At least the club have released a statement.

Nothing unexpected or new in it and it just reiterates what most fans and observers were under no illusions of anyway, but its a statement, so we know where we stand. So if you're an MA supporter, its pointless getting agitated next season, if things tend to go a bit t*** up.

They get criticised for saying f*** all, and rightly so, and when they actually have something to say, they get criticised again, because fans don't like what's being said.

As for the statement, it comes across as being a bit 'Jekyll and Hyde' for me, with Charnley being confirmed as MD a positive, with no likelihood of DoF now appearing on the scene in the form of another crony like Kinnear or Wise.

In bother with who? We get tanked, no-ones accountable. We don't replace Cabaye, no-ones accountable.

I read it as in if we only sign one or two we're likely to struggle to stay up. In footballing terms we'd be 'in bother'. If relegation becomes a serious threat, Mikey Mike will likely make someone accountable even though it should be himself.

Ha, wouldn't that be fcking hilarious. We endlessly complain about things then spend 100m in the Summer.

If we were being fair, which we have every right not to be, we should remember that mark douglas believed there was money in January but that kinnear fckd the whole thing up and was subsequently sacked. It stands to reason that Mike can't actually do anything until the window opens again, and can't legally sack someone who is essentially hitting target.

You're starting to believe again, don't do it. Think the worst and anything else is a bonus.

It's also worth remembering that we were told (I think it was by Mark Douglas in the Journal) before the 2013 January transfer window that MA was going to be getting more hands on in that window and then we went on to sign loads of players, acting with unaccustomed speed. Hopefully his joining the board will result in his being more hands on again and lead to more swift and decisive movement in the summer. I'm not going to hold my breath though - and even then we'd still only sign the bare minimum needed to tread water in mid table.

Around 20 million will get spent with at least half recouped from outgoings. Its going to be a ****y summer window - make no mistake about it.

Yep, and there's one manager alive who'll accept it all with a loathsome grin.

Having stated we are the third best supported club in the country, surely the investment level must be increased?

If Sports Direct actually paid for the advertising they have spread all over SJP, maybe we would be more competitive!

The statement is pretty much as others have said, a repeat of what has gone before with a new puppet banging the drum for league mediocrity.

How can we be pleased with an English owner and English Manager when this is what we reap?

Newcastle United should be challenging for the Europa League each season at the very least in my opinion. The FFP rules are never going to be implemented properly, there will be court cases or more likely lots of 'loopholes' discovered by Man City & Chelsea.

All in all we look destined to be also-rans in the money-greedy world of football business. I don't want to see 'trophy signings' or money being wasted on bone-idle players who can't get inspired by anything other than their next bonus payment for doing feck all! I think perhaps many people in Newcastle should start looking for a new hobby rather than funding a regime that could not care less about them <ok>
