Terrible match, 2 poor teams and a ref who was as bad as any of the players, but don't you just a love a last minute winner - Dack deadly from a yard out. 1. Little - best he has played for a while, in a game of so little quality I had to give it to the hardest working player 2. Gbode - still lacks end product but boy did he put them to the sword 3. Masterson - just for the header that made the goal Everyone worked for it Rowe was lively for an hour and Gale could easily have been in the 3.
I missed the game I had a wedding to conduct. I have labeled Bradley Ballet Dancer Dack, because of his lack of interest in past matches. Then he has not even been on the team sheet for a while, assumed he had gone or was injured. But I have to say, that one goal if that is all he does for the Gills has just kept us in Div 2
1. Gale 2. Dack - only for being in the right place -at the right time..... isn't that what we've been craving for a Loooooonnnggg time ? 3. Masterson..... for doing the right thing at the right time ! The game was a dreadful spectacle. ... It must have left Ainsworth with no doubt as to where we need to improve next season. I hope he gives the young keeper the remaining games - to gain experience in games where any 'mistake' will not be disastrous... we need to prepare for life without Morris. The defence - without being spectacular, have been reasonably good ((( for a team that has spent much of the season near the bottom of the division. ))) - Obviously Gale has been a huge bonus... I believe that Ogie is good enough.. I'd like to see us sign Smith - but- I don't expect it will happen. I am unsure if Hutton or Clark are best options for a promotion push - although I will concede that both, especially Clark, have improved of late. The midfielders are not totally impressing me... I'd like to see more of Johnny Williams - but - his fitness and stamina are a problem. Dack is a luxury - which isn't worth it for a very few number of games he gives. Coleman has been disappointing. Little has been 'average' - along with most of the other midfielders.... and simply not good enough for my liking. .... As for the strikers..... can I remember what Andrews looks like ? Clarke - despite being top scorer (((( despite it being a life-time ago since his last goal )))) - useless in my estimation.... Nevitt - runs a lot & works hard - but - end product not good enough (((( if you doubt me, you should have been watching his efforts in the pre-match shooting practice - truly dreadful. )))) Hawkins - good work ethic - desperately needs a strike partner ((( and much greater protection from the crap officials. ))) - Wylie & Wakeling - not been around much - they will have to work hard to impress Ainsworth to be retained... Rowe looks like he might have a few tricks to at least try to beat the opposition defenders - which none of the others have been able to do.. Ainsworth has started to show some tactics and style that suggests that Gills will be looking to be more 'dynamic' and forward-thinking next season.. I don't doubt that several of the squad will be released... We need to recruit wisely - but- I believe that some of the current squad have had their ability 'strangled' by the tactics of Clemence and Bonner -- maybe some are much better that I have given credit.... can they prove that in the last few games (( which now form a luxury that Ainsworth needs to exploit to get ready for next season ))- or wield the axe.
