This thread reminds me of how active our club board use to be, can we have more of this please. I never did know whether people had just given up with here or whether there was a problem with the system and people being able to sign in - only reason I say that, most decline in activity appear to have happened around server changes.
I agree alwaysright it would be great that we are finding it difficult to choose the top 3 if many players have performed well. I have always liked Max and I was glad when he came back and he has taken some undeserved flak.
brb - I fear that the 'decline' in activity is down to apathy -- probably caused by the toxic period over the last decade or so (( Scally )) - which caused the results and terrible 'entertainment. ' ....... There really hasn't been much to shout about for a long time... So many fans seemed to give up .... I don't blame them. The football has been some of the worst - No - it was the worst that I have seen in 60 years ..... and I have seen plenty of relegations !! Mr. Scally may have 'saved ' the Club 27 years ago - (( I still maintain he has only used £1 of his own money - and that other 'investment' has been funded by sponsors and transfer profits ---- but let's try to get past this !! ))........ But, Scally, in recent years has killed off so much 'love' from the fans- and many must have thought like me in recent months - that, despite having paid for season tickets - I just felt I was wasting my time coming to Priestfield...... But - the Galinsons have been a breath of fresh air....and, although Gills still have much work to do to preserve EFL status, there is genuine belief for the future prosperity of the Club - even if we end up relegated in May.......with Scally, that would definitely have led to a building site. The new 'environment, has started to encourage people... Over 1000 more for the Hartlepool game (( when Gills were still well 'adrift.' )) - and the attendance v Crawley ( even with the generous ticket price ), showed that fans recognise that there is good times ahead... with regards to the healthy debate - between the likes of pegleg, gioblues and others, I believe that we have been able to remain polite (( with a bit of light-hearted banter. )) The contrary viewpoints have been thrashed out - with evidence produced by all parties... The viewpoints will always be differently considered and accepted --I think the reason for this may be due to the amount of sentimentality that has been extended (( compared to a more 'clinical' presentation of hard facts ))..... but that has always been the fun of being a fan of football........ I will always be very 'upfront' with my opinion.. It rarely is 'personal.' when it comes to sport... I believe that my sentimentality about GFC, is beyond doubt - but - I won't shy away from calling a spade a spade.....sometimes I realise that my 'blunt' stance can appear slightly antagonistic - but - like my dear personal friends, I hope that I can have exchange of differing viewpoints, in a civilised fashion.... and I am happy to say that, despite the obvious differences between myself and a few others on Not 606, our members have been well behaved - and a credit to the forum - and as fans of Gillingham Football Club - the love for which is never doubted in each of us.
