I think we've all grown used to it to a certain extent mate its just the modern world I supppose. Still makes me feel uncomfortable though. Where does it end is my worry? We are already at the mercy of Murdochs evil empire (as a sport not just our club). Will our next shirt sponsorship deal be with an American arms dealer? I wonder if the impact of the Olympics will change the sporting nature of our country in terms of a waning interest in going to/paying to watch football? Will the crazy money bubble finally burst? Somehow I doubt it
You're right Frank and I know its way past the point of no return nowadays but I can't help but reminisce sometimes its a sign of impending middle age probably
Would be happy with another deal elsewhere and still get the full amount contracted to us by SC. Never liked this sponsor anyway, when we were first sponsored by them I thought "You can't drink this ****".
The US backed Bin LAden Mobutu and with the aid of the french and UN supported genocide in Rowanda though business ties. The US intentionally destroyed the Euro because a strong EUro is a threat to their national security.?!? Any continental economic challenge is seen as such a threat to NS, this is totally accurate btw. They have destroyed SA economies for gain, African economies for gain, and now the EU. Can anyone tell me where all the money went if wqe have to recapitalise the banks, up is where into the pockets of the few, the world for sale at recession prices for the rich. BTW you have to vilify Iran before you can invade, hence the vilification of all nations prior to invasion. The US economy is dependant on the asian market as is but they also see that as a threat to NS
US accusing a foreign entity of suspicious activities...Didn't this happen last week at the Olympics?
Interesting thread! In the 1980's I was involved with our local Anti-Apartheid movement when it was going totally nuts in South Africa.Leafleting, fund raising, encouraging boycotting products etc. There were many western corporations involved over there and SC was one of them. It's good to read other posters on here being aware and hacked off that SC's logo is splattered over LFC's shirts. All these multi-nationals deal in highly dubious and immoral business regardless of ordinary people or their enviroment. We live in a time where these ***** have a vice like grip on our everyday lives, everywhere we look is dominated by corporate garbage. In a football sense there may come a time when the bubble burst's and we can start to take our beautiful game back from these parasites. Apologies for the rant but this stuff makes me ****ing angry.
The Daily Manchester were quick to associate us with the banner headline. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/liverpool-fc-sponsor-standard-chartered-1234254 Money laundering involving the western world's public enemy number one Iran and the LFC shirt sponsorship deal all neatly put together with a large photo bearing our club name.
No apologies required Interesting stuff. Not just SC of course, we see evidence now on practically a weekly basis that they're all feeding from the trough but as SC are our sponsors I felt it warranted discussion. I for one have never been particullarly comfortable with it but also know I want a successful LFC. Catch 22 in a way.
So like I suggested...LFC should write SC a strongly worded letter telling them not to drag our name through the mud Not sticking up for The Daily Manc but we do seem to keep feeding the tossers plenty of ammo eh
Read about these money laundering allegations this morning. Will Liverpool's contract with the company continue as normal or will the owners consider terminating the contract if they have grounds to so?
I would imagine it'll be carry on regardless certainly until anything is proven but I'm sure FSG will have concerns about how SC are portrayed over the pond either way
