I have a DVD recording of the match and have re-run the 56th minute. The applause was heard immediately the minute started reaching its crescendo after about 45 secs. Earlier Hull City fans were shown standing and clapping but around the 40 sec mark the camera concentrated on Arsenal fans standing and clapping. Surprisingly neither the match commentator Martin Tyler nor his co- commentator(Jim Beglin?) offered any comment as to why the fans applauded the 56th minute.
