Scotland gets £1600 more state cash spent on them per head than England. At present, it is thought between 32-38% of Scots favour indepedence. About 70-75% of Scots (including those against independence) favour a referendum which the Scottish parliament hope will take place in 2014. Meanwhile, the percentage of those strongly against independence has fallen in the past few years. But it was interesting to hear Cameron and Salmond squabbling over whether 16 and 17 year olds would be able to vote in any referendum. It doesn't take much working out to realise that 16-17 years olds may be tempted to think Scotland can go it alone while more mature Scots may think hold on a moment.... Not that it bothers me either way.
From an English perspective, Scottish independance would be a bit like being dumped by the fat bird you didn't fancy much anyway. You wouldn't really be sorry, but your pride will be hurt.
I like your analogy but I could also just add that it would be like not being able to take that fat bird to the ball. You'd have to go it alone.
England would be better off to the tune of £420 per household. Apparently. If that's dying bring it on.
