Just abit of fun this one. A political party, I forget which one has stated that if they get into government they would look into allowing safe standing areas at EPL and Championship games.

I personally am more than happy to sit down, but how many would prefer to stand?

Liberal Democrats, so when we get another hung parliament and coalition, they can fail to live up to their promise.

Having areas of the stadium (Northam, kingsland north, itchen north) allocated as standing whilst leaving the rest as seating would suit me. Better atmosphere and makes all happy.

I'd be all for it. To be fair situation doesn't bother me at the moment. Stand if you want and sit if you want. As long as you know what part of the stadium your in and what other people will be doing then I don't see a problem

Is there much point having standing? Presumably it would be put in the northam who all stand anyway? Isn't it some sort of unwritten rule that the stewards won't kick up a fuss as long as you only stand in the northam?

I agree! You can have standing sections that are safe if handled properly- but certainly a seating section would be great. I would rather be able to sit at times (I have foot problems which make standing for long times problematic for me).

Well I like my seat, thanks very much, but I know that some want to stand. There should maybe be one section, advertised clearly as standing only (subject to a law change) The moment you have a mixture, the kids, those with disabilities or the vertically challenged find that for their money they get to see the back of someone's head at all critical parts of the play. Frankly, when I started to take my son to St Mary's, if I had had a taser, I would have seriously considered using it on the selfish gits who couldn't keep their arses on their seats in front of his!

Got to take my youngest nephew to see Chelsea at St Marys, just after Christmas [28th..?]. I kind of promised. He's 12 and short. Make no mistake, he's short, not shortish. So where's best, cheapest, etc... pepys..?

Cheers

Northam. When everyone stands, he stands on the seat and has exactly the same view as everyone else around him.

It's worked for my son for five years.

I suppose the other thing to consider is that at Saint Mary's, the no-standing rule isn't exactly enforced very well at the moment. If there were a designated safe-standing area, it would have to be coupled with stricter enforcement in the seated areas.
