So sad. My footballing God and what a character to go with it. I hope the players have an extra incentive this week and the fans make his legacy heard loud and clear.

Very sad news, lots of fond memories watching him play. What a deal for us when we picked him up from Carlisle United!
Would be nice if we could chalk up one last win against Rotherham in Stan's honour:-
"On 22 August 2015, Queens Park Rangers honoured Bowles as he was presented to the crowd at Loftus Road before their game against Rotherham United."

Met Stan in the springbok years ago & before he was diagnosed with the illness & had a chat then had picture taken, such a nice bloke & down to earth

He made a very large impact upon my youth and it was a sheer pleasure to watch him play and score so many goals. An artist of a footballer with a cheeky grin.

Your passing has made me think a lot about my own Dad who died long before you, but who took me to see you play in September 1972 and you were so great we spent a lot of the next 7 or 8 years watching QPR together.
Thank you for giving me that and an appreciation of what good football is really about.

I remember watching him at The Dell back in the day. He was about to take a corner but, as he stepped backwards, hit the advertising boards (it was pretty tight like HQ). He turned around and noticed it was the corner housing disabled fans, so stepped over the boards, made a couple of fans budge up, and sat down with them. The referee raced over and admonished him (can’t remember if he was booked too), and the whole stadium, both home and away fans, booed the referee.
