You know that's not such a crazy idea. Just a shame that it doesn't have corporate sponsorship deal attached to it (unless you've got a cunning plan for JH?) GKRK
Chap called Brian Durand is postin pics of new stadium on twitter, not sure how convincin they look, rumours of 74k and Boeing sponsoring, could be true, could be cr*p
As good as Anfield is, we have to look to the future. We need a stadium, and as soon as its built the better.
It looks like a couple of mock-ups; one is an imagining from Venmore Street, by the look of it. The other is in the Park itself. I'm guessing its the view from Arkles Lane?
Could the fans put a sort of petition ( when the news breaks) of things they would really love to keep: The Kop, The gates, etc. Certain things that need to remain as they really are a apart of not just the stadium but the atmosphere, the people, the songs, etc. "Outside the Shankly gates...."
I remeber H&G's original plans (by HKS) included a kop OLD architects drawings VV please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image One thing about that bottom picture... Wheres the dug out??
Are those boxes what we don't want? The ones that split up the tiers? Put the boxes in the corners by the tele's!
Agree with all of what you said. You can dedicate certain areas like 305/306 of the KOP to the loudest fans who hold season tickets, and a good portion (say 1000) of members tickets in that area as well for the members who want to sing. The problem is that you can easily buy a ticket to sit in the KOP which means that these days it is easy for tourists to sit in-between the sections of fans who generate the atmosphere. My uncle tells me that it was easier for fans to group together where ever they wanted on the old standing terraces and most of them went in together as a large group with a few lagers down their throats. Now it is basically a lottery, luck of the draw where you sit and it is ruining the atmosphere.
I think the club should promote a "safe" but ultras like atmosphere. Ex. Supporters groups can hang massive banners from any level, ticket incentives to organized and loyal groups. Promote nonstop singing, and allow standing/chanting in the new Kop. (not removing the seats though, and making sure there are no overcrowding issues.) Of course, any violence should be strictly prohibited, and prosecuted but the ultras mentality does often help the team play. Supporter leaders, local fans that lead choreographed singing and banners, should be given a small stand at the front. Basically take the atmosphere from Balkan/ Russian/ Turkish/ Eastern fans and get rid of all the nasty bits.
It's needs to be an absolite coldrun. Intimidating place with the best acoustics available. Was it Valencia's ground which is right in your face? Almost vertical?
Do you guys think Ian Ayres and Tom Werner will go for a cauldron like ground or play it safe and go for a standard looking big ground? I'm hoping the naming partners will have input and will want something unique which has a reputation for being an amazing ground acoustically
I don't think here is any doubt that the historical items and memorial will move with us, there also has to be a This Is Anfield sign on the way to the pitch even if it's not called Anfield. I agree with the points about acoustics, big stadiums like Wembley are awful the sound does not travel and the atmosphere is terrible.
It doesn't help that they messed up big time with the corporate seating, it faces the bloody cameras! So it looks to everyone worldwide that the stadium is empty when in fact it's because the seats are for the corporate folk and theyre too busy eating their prawn sandwiches rather than watch the game!
They ****ed up royally on that one, it angers me and pretty much most of the population that watches it when this happens in every match. Even when they tried to stop it by encouraging everyone to go back out at half time it was an improvement but still a failure.
