It will happen and its just a matter of time as it is not as straight forward as was first thought and should have been discussed before the stadium was built at white rock. Maybe it would have been better to have gone with the old velindre sight that was also in the frame at the time...

So this is where I have been working this week........ whatever you think about it, it really does give a totally different feel to the stadium when you are there - makes it feel a whole lot bigger. I left there feeling jealous about the stadium and annoyed that we are so slow to move on our own expansion.

nice....It's a shame they were relegated really as they wont be using it on many occasions...They have the space and no objections to worry about where we dont where we are...

    Mmmm....

33000 stadium, s****e team, clueless dictator at the helm, and Championship football...
Or 20000 stadium, a team the envy of most in the football world, a chairman and manager who love the club, and a place at the richest table in world football...

Jealous? Are you having a laugh?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Campioni - if you read what I said again - "...jealous about the stadium". I am. I wish our expansion was happening right now. Nothing to do with which division they're in, who is manager or who the chairman is. Plain and simple. Just because everything else about us is better than them doesn't change the fact that we are dragging our heels on this.

I don't think there are any positive sounds from the Club regarding stadium expansion.

My bet is the stadium will reach the full expansion before the road is completed... Just look at how the council is taking to do that tiny boullevard!

Well phase one of the stadium expansion is due for completion by August I doubt the bypass will be completed by then!!
Especially as one will be dealt with by private contractors and the other by the Highways dept in the Council!!

Big news! I love the fact that they are targeting deals and offers once the stadium is expanded. Everyone knows that most of a Premier League club's revenue doesn't come from the ticket gates, but with only 1,500 general sale tickets at the moment, it's very hard for the club to exercise offers like "Kids for a quid" or other family offers. With a 25,000-seater stadium in time for the season after next, this should allow us to look at these options more often to increase our fanbase.

    That's good news. <ok>

Just a quick question, though this may have been asked in the past and I've missed it. How is the expansion to be funded - is the club picking up all the bill? If so, how will that effect the Council's overall ownership of the ground and the existing agreement where it's jointly managed by the company representing them, you and the Ospreys?

Would there be some sort of leeway for you toward acquiring total ownership?

By total ownership do you mean the Club acquiring the freehold of the land?

The club are paying for the expansion. As to the other part of your question I have no idea. However the Council only have a 1/3rd shareholding of the management company, if that helps at all.

Isn't this whole management company malarkey the reason why we're being investigated by the EC? Isn't the company there purely to put our losses into it and make the club look more profitable than it may be? Purely legal of course but at some point we should surely be looking to own the stadium outright? Probably when we want to look less profitable for some tax purposes.

Not necessarily, and I can't see the Council wanting to compromise its' overall freehold of the whole site by selling part of it.

You could hold the land on a long term lease such as we have at the CCS (125 year at peppercorn rent) whilst acquiring outright ownership of the structure that stands on it.

Some sort of deal would presumably have to be struck with the Ospreys as they would then become your tenants, and also of course, the management company arrangement would need resolving. However, longer term, the stadium as a tangible asset could stand you in good stead for the future.

You do realize that the stadium is for Swansea as a whole and not the property of the club. It is not just used for just football or rugby. There are things going on there everyday. We can actually get kicked out at any time if we don't follow the lease agreement just like other clubs have been....It is not our stadium to do what we want and it will never be our stadium no matter what fans think, It is a stadium built for the whole of Swansea to use....
