Does anyone have any info on whether this is going ahead or not? I was under the impression that Huw wanted to make sure we survived our first season before giving the go-ahead, but it now seems to have gone quite. With Laudrup almost certain to sign, then isn't this enough to get work started? If we wait to see how we go this season then we could end up waiting forever?

Also, how much disruption will the work cause and will any section of the ground need to be closed? And how long will it take from start to finish?

Or would a brand new stadium with a much bigger capacity (40-50K) be a better option? Or is that too risky? Just wondering if we only up capacity by 5-7K, then we'll have to up it again in another season or two.
 
Not sure about this. Don't think the expansion would take us beyond 30,000 anyway?
 
I think the planned expansion was up to 30,000? I also think just increasing it 5k is a bit daft considering the disruption it would cause. Given our PL exposure, I think if we did go down this season, the following season we'd still pretty much fill the 20k for most games, but if another 10k were available there's lots of games we'd get close to, if not fill, that.
 
Think I read that the expansion would be done in stages with the East stand altered first, if and when that happens is anyones guess. Personally I feel priority should go to organising the new training facilities for the first team as there has been no mention of when that is taking place, we can think about adding to our crowd size in due course.
 
3-4-5 years down the line yet and then its doubtful, too much red tape and of course the stadium is not ours to do as we wish in the first place. the ospreys only have to say no and thats it....it would be a nightmare of disruption and not needed.....we are still waiting for a new training ground with premiership facilities for years, so forget about any expansion over the next few years as it wont happen....if ever..<ok>
 
how the hell can we its not our stadium to do what we want...tell me how and ill try and extend some of my properties without waiting years and years through red tape and neighbour objecting...love to know how you can extend something that is not yours and i cant and i own my property,<laugh>
 
Its all about planning Superswan, if they agree it can and will be built. Remember the council are actually in partnership with this, so they will probably look favourable on it as its making the facilities better. I do think that they know a damn sight more about it than us.

And your property has nothing to do with this as a domestic property, this is commercial so the rules could be different.
 
Yes, I think Swansea Council are bound to agree and I can't see Ospreys objecting. Even if they do they'll be overruled. If SCFC want this to go ahead it will.
 
It took the club 10 years of talking to get the training and Academy moving, so will not hold my breath on this one!......<ok>
 
If we survive another season (or possibly two) and have established ourselves, and have the funding to do so, a 10,000 capacity increase could really benefit the club. Otherwise it's not an immediate issue - i'd rather the money was spent on training facilities, youth facilities and players.
 
Well I can tell you all that the stadium expansion IS going ahead, so once again Dai knows nothing. I can't say too much or my source would get in trouble, but it'll be in stages and the East will be first.

If that happens, that would be great. Not sure the bid is going to win though and that is eight years away...
 
It cant go ahead scott so thats rubbish. there is more to the stadium than the swans, we are just part of it and not the controller of what happens. The only way is to buy the stadium outright and charge rent for the ospreys or any other sports clubs who use it....lets get the academy and training facilities up and running first before we jump ahead of ourselves, we have only been in the premiership one season and may get relegated this time, who knows, we dontk know, we are not an established premiership club yet. so where are these 30,000 fans going to come from? we have not filled the stadium every game this season just gone.....and god forbid if we do get relegated then we will be back to an average of half of 30,000 anyway. we are fine as we are at this early stage of premiership football....
