    Really?

That surprises me after all the Millions that Sven spunked on players but I guess money doesn't always buy success as we know!

Over half the money we spent went on Beckford and Mills, arguable the most disappointing signings. Others like Pantsil haven't got near the first team. None of the loan signings (Ball, Johnson, Fernandes) have worked out either. Nugent and Kasper have been good though, and probably the best value signings was of Lee Peltier, but that was more down to Derek Fazackerley's Huddersfield connection.

It all depends who we sign in this window.

I think we'll challenge for the top 6 but without a good creative central midfielder and 2 quick wingers, we won't get promoted.

I think we can get top 6 but by no means should we expect it.

st ledger will do a job. He is perfect for you i think. He is not stand out, but steady and gets on with his job quietly, and i think better next to a better and more controlling CB.

but dont care drop him for sh*t will kick off!!!

There was some good news at the end of the EADT story that mentions the St Ledger story:

“The Blues also rubbished rumours linking (Paul Jewell) with Alan Smith (Newcastle)”

    http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-...petition_for_sean_st_ledger_signing_1_1169364

It also says the same about Speroni and Henry from Millwall. I’m not so bothered about Speroni (though probably a better backup than what we’ve got) and I don’t know all that much about Henry. Right midfield, isn’t he?

As for St Ledger, surely someone who sounds in demand wouldn’t want to come here right now?!

no loan i think, i think after splashing out on him we want rid and dont want to give him the satisfaction of a loan, would rather let him rot.

Pleased about the Henry rumour being false, if he can't get in the Millwall side he can't be much good, sounds like our laughable offer in the summer may have been about right

As for SSL, bring him in!! I think we have some serious competition though, some Serie A side according to Jewell.

SSL is an average championship defender but he seem a complete nobhead. I think we could get alot better players and im glad hes off.

Hes not as good as Gareth McAuley for the Ipswich fans but better then Alex Bruce

he is better than gareth, but not that great in the year. A big man would destroy him, but you dont become an ireland first choice without being alright.

McAuley was a very good defender, one of the best in the division and someone we have not come anywhere near replacing, we would be far higher up in the league if we would have kept him. However he was definitely a confidence player and if he wasn't confident he could have a bit of a nightmare.

I think St Ledger could be a good signing for us, although as you say probably needs a more dominant CB who is good in the air, perhaps like Sonko.

As for Henry, I haven't seen much of him, but I don't think he's not getting in the team because he is not talented, I think he has fallen out with the management due to his contract or not being sold in the summer!!!

I think alot of clubs will be put off due to what they think his wages are here, and can't match them.

Good luck to SSL in the future, just a shame he couldn't keep his head down and earn his starting spot.

The one reservation i have about SSL, Is the fact that he turned us down once to go elsewhere.our main problem is committed players to the cause and not enough passion is being shown, so would he be truly committed to the cause?

You guys might not be the only ones after SSL. Apparently there is also interest from Serie A! Must have been recommended by Trapatoni.
