It's fallen into disrepair. So many other stadiums have surpassed our once respected capacity. Can anyone shed any light on these troubling non developments?
The stadiums stagnation befits the general theme of stagnation and regression across the board in the past decade or more. The additions? Old gates, a terrible representation of Shearer, and a semi-terrible one of Sir Bobby. I have to say though, I still love St James'. It could do with some TLC, but unless they were going to build a 90k seater somewhere, I still think it is for for purpose.
I'm sure 52000 seater in the Championship would be cracking. In terms of the stadium yes it needs some repair work but I hope no one would even imagine wanting a new ground???
I think for Newcastle United to move forward, we need a bigger stadium. Because of the buildings behind the East Stand, we cannot enlarge the stadium anymore than it is.
not one for nostalgia me, you have to go with the times. and like before ,all i have seen is bad luck at that place.
The stadium is fine just needs a bit of tarting up. Its been neglected no doubt. Without a takeover nothing will happen so for me we have bigger priorities at the moment in time.
If the owner doesn't give a **** about the team, do you really expect him to give a **** about the stadium?
Love that stadium. Love the way it dominates the city. No problem building a new one but has to be in same location and with a stand so high you can get hyperthermia in winter.
Size wise, it's perfect. Any bigger and we'd struggle to fill it, any smaller and we would have people being turned away. Location is the best of any stadium I can think of . Like the squad though, it needs investment just to maintain it
Exactly we would need to be reaching Keegan era levels to get more I remember the plans for an 80 thousand seater being up in Eldon square Chevy Chase but hippy stopped them building on the park
I remember reading about Ashley buying the club on teletext page 302 ... that's how long we've had to deal with this misery
