St Arsehole's Day!

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Feb 26, 2015.

  1. Indeed, it does, Pix.

It will be very SAD for Gooners, that they finish behind their neighbours for the second successive season in a row, and once again outside the top 4.

A decline is rarely anything other than sad.

The power-shift is there for all to see, mate.

I know you must be absolutely gutted, so I'm not going to hark on about it, much.

No mate, you've actually cheered me up about it all with your SAD trophy <laugh>

Enjoy it. You can put it next to the Net spend trophy and the Consolidation cup.

  3. You can try to laugh it off all you like, but we all know it cuts you to the bone to suffer this humiliation.

When it was "St Totteringham's Day," you were there with your Red and White pompoms, cheerleading the way. Now that those days are long gone, you cannot stand it, and it rattles you to the core.

Admit it. At least we'd have to give you credit for being honest, for once.

I can see how much St Tott's day has hurt you.

It's already been explained why this day you've made up doesn't work. But don't let it stop you enjoying your SAD day anyway mate :)

  5. That "St Arsehole's Day" has the acronym "SAD" is so fitting for Arsenal.

Thanks for pointing that out to us, Pix!

As a neutral genuinely interested. Tottenham are on course to finish above Arsenal for the second year and in fairness have a superior team/ squad of exciting young players so two questions:

    a) how many years did Arsenal finish above Tottenham in the league (I know it was more than 2)
    b) is this what the gauge is for "success" for the two clubs? I appreciate Man City will probably cheer loudly finishing above Man Utd but my understanding is that they will get a good trophy for that also?

Prior to last year, Spurs last finished above us in 1994/95. Deli Alli wasn't even born <laugh> Since then we've won the league 3 times, the FA cup 7 times, inc two doubles, an unbeaten season and a Champions league final. Whilst Spurs have got through 12 managers and won two Carling cups.

For HIAG this represents the Power Shift <laugh>

  10. Don't know who you are, but you clearly have no conception of just how great the rivalry used to be between the two North London clubs.

Arsenal used to finish above us, season after season, and still win nothing of any note. Yet, still they celebrated their "St Totteringham's Day." As it became clearer that we were going to surpass them, their celebrations became tinged evermore with a hint of utter desperation. The year that we failed to catch Leicester, our boys gave up when they knew it was mathematically impossible to win the league; but Arsenal, who had never been in the title race, took advantage of our despondency and celebrated like they had won the league and CL, when they managed to pip us to second spot. It was embarrassing to witness.

Now, of course, there is a gulf between our two clubs. So much so that they can hardly be classed as rivals any more. I'd say that Chelsea are our nearest London rivals. I say "nearest," but even that gap is shameful. Personally, next season, I'm going to concentrate on our race for the title with City, and I suggest that you do the same, yeah?

    Thanks, mate.

Apart from the 3 league titles, 7 FA cups, including 2 doubles that I just mentioned.

You do walk straight into these **** ups mate <laugh>

  12. Come off it, Pix!

You cannot keep banging on about your "three league titles" when the last time you won the league was 2004. That's 14 years ago, sunshine! For 12 years you'd been winning practically sweet FA and still celebrating "St Totteringham's Day" like bastards! It was embarrassing, trust me.

Also, I love the hilarity behind that title.

Totteringham - that's an hilarious take on the verb "to totter" and our name, Tottenham Hotspur. I suppose the idea was that we "tottered" in the league after you had finished above us, yeah?

    ****ing hilarious, mate!

You must feel like such a flange-wipe now, yeah?

    ^^^^ Rattled

You said we'd won 'nothing of note'. So either explain to me how 3 titles and 7 FA cups is 'nothing of note' or admit you've ****ed up again :)

I can when you last won yours in 1961 <laugh> Wenger alone has won more titles than the Spuds have in their entire history.

You make this far too easy for me <ok>

Thanks for the info buddy. Much appreciated. Just so I can get the hang of this at what point is a gap "shameful"? It's just that you are a whopping 10 points ahead of Chelsea and 13 points above Arsenal. What if it grows, what is worse than shameful?

    To HIAG!

The gauge for success: answer these few questions:

How many titles have you won? How many domestic trophies? How many champions league titles? How many European cups? When did you last win a league title? Was it when.. oh wait that's not it. It couldn't have been more than 50 years ago, right?

    Right?

Wouldn't surprise me, small clubs celebrate small things. Tell me is that all you've had to look forward to for the last 22 years? That's a pretty SAD existence ;)
