There is recent information that suggests some fences have been mended and that they were on speaking terms with regards to Van Gaal discussing call ups for Feyenoord players, van gaal praising koeman's ability to coach players individually, but not going as far as to praise him as a manager. I think the the edge might have been taken off the animosity but they won't be chums. ABU maybe too extreme but it seems likely we'll make it harder for them.
They're making more sense than you are. 34m is outrageous for Shaw. If he wants to go, I'd happily take that.
Depending on how the 34m is made up. I want at least 25m upfront. I still think he will go, but hate the whole "we are a bigger club we can do what we want" nobs.
The Manure fans may crow about them being a bigger club than us but in the meantime we will be laughing our way to the bank with a ridiculously large transfer fee...they might be bigger but they are stupid!
http://www.espnfc.us/story/1907897/...alks-with-southampton-over-luke-shaw-transfer According to this they haven't upped their bid and we will let him leave.
It doesn't say we will let him leave, it says "all involved appreciate the size of the potential transfer fee will make it tough for Southampton to reject United's advances" which is a tad more speculative. As with most of the other stories it is told very much from a United perspective, which suggests pretty strongly who 'ESPN sources' are in this case.
Just trying to put both sides as clearly you only believe the 40m etc coming from journo's close to us.
If we don't need the money, we could reject anything...not difficult at all. However, there is probably a figure where we reckon we could cash in and buy a few players of more use to us than one LB. We do need to sort out the team...we need to hive off players if we will probably never play them and get quality depth into the squad. A couple of injuries last season and we were scraping the barrel.
I think my point earlier about the unpredictability of the transfer market indicated that in fact I don't completely believe any transfer story until it happens, and the fact we have two completely contradictory stories today shows that a healthy dose of scepticism is probably a good idea whatever rag you're reading.
So how much is Saints worth to a 'buyer' at the moment. If someone cam in to make a quick buck and couldn't give a **** about Saints. Intention was to buy then sell out everything we must be worth more than £200m as was suggested a few days ago. Imagine. You could sell Lallana for £25m, Shaw for £30m, Morgan for £25m, Lovren for £20m. That is already £100m on 4 players. Selling Wanyama, Rodriguez, Clyne, Chambers and Cork must bring in an accumulated £60m. So now the asset stripper has brought in £160m. £40m minimum for the rest of the squad. Thats £200m income without doing much. They then sell the club for £60m as a going concern, considering there would be at least 1 year of TV money plaus the parachute payments. We MUST be worth more than £200m by my reckoning because in a worse case scenario a ruthless businessman would be able to buy us and make more than £200m very very quickly. Anyway on the Shaw thing I would say £25m cash + £5m for 40 Man Utd appearances + £5m for 10 England appearances + £2.5m for 25 England caps + £2.5m for 50 England caps. I think we would be guaranteed all of that (thats why my extras don't include goals or assists)
Daily Echo 4:04pm On the subject of Luke Shaw, the Daily Echo understands that despite Manchester United’s interest in the 18-year-old left back they have not at this time tabled a £34m for the youngster as has been rumoured. Now they got the original report from The Times, are they saying that they are telling porkies?
