I don't view accepting an offer as basically showing a player the door, but if an offer is accepted and they go I wouldn't begrudge them. Asking to leave prior to an offer being accepted is a different story. I'd actually be more annoyed if Lallana asked to leave than if Shaw did. I feel like Shaw is more-or-less simply forced his way into the club by being very good while the club was in the Premier League. Lallana, OTOH has benefited tremendously in his career by getting to start at Saints when he wouldn't have played for a Premier League club. Yes, he's brought a lot to the team but at the same time he's been rewarded with contract extensions, a good environment, fan support, the captaincy, and now he is at a top 8 club and is on the National team to boot. What has he ever needed that he hasn't gotten? He's in a great place right now. I feel more like there's a relationship with Lallana where he should trust the club more and if the club has ever meant anything to him everyone is sooo close to the ultimate goal... how could you do that if you cared about the club? Wouldn't it be much more satisfying to reach the pinnacle with Saints than to jump ship and win a trophy as an anonymous cog? It's similar to when LeBron James left Cleveland. He took a lot of criticism for it because it was felt that if James was truly the player he thought he was, and really wanted to write himself into the history books then he'd win with Cleveland as the leader of the team instead of winning with Bosch and Wade. Also, I feel like Shaw has been the subject of massive interest before he even played a game. So he's stuck with Saints for two years while being courted by the big clubs. So even though he has less time with the club he's still given up more opportunities in order to stay with us. Lallana seems like the first real chance he got he's gone.
It's not the how of it, it's the why. Any moron can put up some shelves. Why do it myself when I can get someone else to do it, and spend more time with the fam.
DIY consists of lifting the phone and getting someone else to do it. Luckily my BFF has an extremely useful husband who has fitted my bathroom and kitchen and does any minor DIY...so I have all the advantage of a husband without having one cluttering up the house.
When you read Tweets saying that Luke is house hunting in Manchester you wonder if he is doing it using Google Street View on his lap-top?
All the way from Portugal too. Ah, now I get the Street View reference. Sorry, whoever wrote that. Just needed to think it through. Been watching an awful lot of Stewart Lee lately, so the thought processes become much more analytical. Which means it takes time.
Clutching at straws. He's going to a better club. accept it. i'll be watching him a lot on telly next season. COME ON YOU MAN U DEVILS
