Do you feel the same way about Dunne?
I think Clint has earned an extra year as back up CB and LB cover.

What makes you think Murphy isent very good then. Another random statement with nothing to back it up!

How many games has he played since he's been here? What's he done in his career to suggest he's good?

He's in his 30s and has about a total of 35 career apps in football outside Ireland.

I don't think he has done much wrong since signing for us & was liked at Ipswich. However, I do question if we need him or a similar alternative.

I think we have two other goalkeepers capable of being our back up. Shamefully, I can't think of the name of the more senior of the two, but Lumley is my other choice.

Those goalies aren't counted in the 25 so we can still have 3, using 2 doesn't mean we get an extra outfield player either.

I'd like green, someone else at least as good as him and a 21-25 yo third choice who could be the goalie of the future.

I understand what you are saying flyer, but that would give us five potential goalkeepers fot the first team squad.

There is certainly an argument for having a second choice 'keeper who is at a higher level than Murphy but is this not an area that we could save a little of our costs? To me a third man would just be an expensive luxury & what is the point if we can develop our own talent? We had the ideal second choice man in Cerny but I don't have a clue who is available to cover us now, perhaps Carson or Almunia?

Don't think at this stage we can afford to have a 40k or 80k keeper on the bench, as Green is staying Cesar should be on his way. Agree we need a backup and healthy competition for positiona is good but learning from our mistakes is better.

I would keep Bobby. He has earned his place as an impact sub....I am also keen on keeping Traore....definitely a utility player now....remember how Harry could shore up the team at Wembley with Traore.

Please remember the last time....we need a team that is together going into this campaign. We do not want to rip up the division, a solid team that wins its fair share of matches and gets to safety without a struggle, that is building a bit each year...

A couple of solid good players who want to play for us, preferably young and eager....small steps

Traore was pretty outspoken a few weeks ago about not knowing what position he was expected to be focussing on - LB or LW or RW where he has also been played. I got the impression he saw himself as a LB. From our perspective he is ideal as back up for both Yun and whoever plays LW out of Hoilett and Phillips, but if he's not happy with that I think he's done himself enough favours with some decent performances this year to get some interest from European clubs. Personally I think he's too flaky/inconsistent to be a real first choice premiership player. Ideally keep as a squad player, but I won't be heartbroken if he decides otherwise.

Rob Green offered a new deal, no brainer. Good business.

Ale Faurlin, loved at the club, worth another year to see if he can get back to his best

Clint Hill....hmm worth noting we experienced success in the Semi Final and Final when he wasn't on the pitch. He's the guy I'd have in a player coach role with all the emphasis on the coaching. Maybe give him the League and FA Cup games.

Awh, come on man. That's selective stat-making if ever I saw it.

Was Faurlin's contract gone or did he have a year left? I'd be surprised if they gave him an extension on a contract that already had a year to run.

You missed the most important part, to advise Redknapp on subs! Its amazing he was tuned in to alter the sub's while still on the pitch.

Hence why I stated he should be in a role with emphasis on the coaching. I completely agree with you that he'd be more tuned in to a live game and tactical decision making than Redknapp and most likely Bond or Jordan. He'd be a great asset on the coaching staff for sure.

His contract was due to expire at the end of this season. Another 1 year deal I'm assuming which is good business for both parties.

I'll admit it looks like I've been having a few digs at Hill on this and previous threads, and don't get me wrong he deserves all the praise and adoration of the fans of this club, he's been a great servant but I don't want us to be reliant on him starting matches. We have to push on now and try and establish ourselves in the Premiership, sooner rather than later. Hill's not a Premier League player, and he should be heavily involved in our coaching set up because his desire and recognition of the tactical side of the game seems to be a great asset to us.
