Agree with this pretty much. The thing I just don't get is everyone keeps banging on about his pace (as that's his only trick..), so let me ask you this..

Do you not have any concerns about signing a 30-year-old who's biggest (only?) asset is pace?!?

Yeah I've exaggerated slightly, 30 in 2 months, but the fact remains his pace won't last long, and then we'll have a distinctly average player on our hands on inflated wages. Why is everyone so pro this? As a year-long loan I think he'd be a good acquisition, huge mistake to sign him imo. He'll be worthless next year.

For anyone saying "England international" I can guarantee IF we bought him it would be "ex England international"

Difficult one this, 5/6 years ago I'd have snapped their hands off for him, now? think for the money he'll want, he'll not be worth it. SB/NQ has\will be working to offload the deadwood we currently have at the club and think he'll fall into the same bracket.

If he can find some form then he'd be a real asset but I feel he'll be a 1 good game in 3, kind of player and possibly not what we need at this point. I'd rather (as so many have said) the money was invested in a left winger.

We should give him a year 1 contract with an option to extend, if he wants a longer one tell him to bugger off.

We don't need another RW even if he is used on the left to cut in, because not one defender in the PL knows he does that do they?
Leave him be too old, we are supposed to be building a team for the future FFS not an OAPs home, mind you if the Aztecs are right we've only a year left.

Yeah, and we rightly let him go. U can see us signing SWP and giving him a long-term high earning deal. Then if he is ****e, we're stuck with him, so I say 1 year with option to extend if he does well.

    its a risk.

The lad was top notch in his 1st stint at City, moved to Chelsea for the £££, and hasn't played a sufficient amount of football since.

He can't cross a ball so he is absolutely relaint upon his pace to get himself inside and into dangerous positions.

He won't come cheaply in terms of wages either

This completely. He looked great player before going to Chelsea then turned poor. Not seen his high standards again yet - only glimpses but he'd get my full backing in a red & white shirt
