Sectionals of last year's Cambridgeshire and Silver. Took these from the Jockey Club videos. Running times don't always tie up exactly with accumulated sectionals but are close enough As you will see, the Slver was run at slower pace for the first 7f but the final 2f were quicker
It's also worth noting that Squire was carrying 9.6 whilst the winner of the Cambridgeshire was carrying 8.4 (wfa agjusted 8.9) and the 2nd, btn sh was carrying 8.13. The 3rd 1l behind was carrying 8.2 The winner of the Cambridgeshire had never run above Class 3
Which for a horse who doesn't have gears looks more unsuitable way of running. To me those figures show the races were very different races (field size, pace and quality of the field). What is interesting though to me is that the Cambridgeshire is a race that is run at a more honest pace, and that could suit.
Bizarrely Squire would be better suited by the stronger pace. If we get there off a mark of 85 I think we will have an outside chance of making the feame.
Rob Havlin's min riding weight is around 8.6 I believe. So Squire was carrying about 1 stone of dead weight. Better remove this thread. Don't want him ending up bloody fav for the race
