Conor Hourihane signs.... ok as a squad member.....hope he doesn't repeat his red/yellow card count this season.....helped to dump us out of the cup. Hope Sheridan can bring in a better mid-fielder before the start of the season.
To explain myself regarding Hourihane.....played 47 matches.....scored 5 goals (not enough).........but 3 reds plus 19 yellows is not good enough. Ok under Fletcher yellows and reds seemed to be for fun.....Sheridan has helped to tighten up this laxness and the team improved their discipline. If Hourihane continues as captain Sheridan will want less bookings from him,....that's for sure.....nearly some form of card every other game....not the way to lead a team.
Not enough goals for central midfielder but still top scorer, Banton aside, seems a tad unfair Plym. 5 goals from midfield for a team struggling to score seems a fair return IMHO.
He just needs a good spanner to give his nuts a little twist to the right and realign his sights and he will be ok.
A Janner Spanner will sort him out , or kill him trying!!! Death by cheerleader hmmmmm... there are a lot worse ways to die!
Jake Cole signs a one year contract.....it will be interesting to see who will be No 1 goalkeeper next season.
What we need is good competition for the strikers.....at the moment we just need strikers from somewhere please.
John Sheridan says that Isaac Vassell has accepted a one year contract. Andres Gurrieri who has had a busy summer back in Argentina getting married is 95% certain to sign says Sheridan. Sheridan feels that Onismor Bhasera is only fifty fifty on staying, nothing has been heard from in as yet,his contract expires at the end of June. Meanwhile there are reports that possible recruit Rene Howe (we don't really know if Sheridan is interested) is interesting Southend,Sheffield United.Oxford and Hibs.
Patience people. Since training & the fixture schedule restarts so early, lots in the game will be on holiday. All that's been seen from most clubs so far are departures and renewed contracts.
Newspaper talk suggests that Sheridan is showing interest in Swindon pair Lee Cox & Luke Rooney.......Cox we know from his loan spell last season.... ended by a shoulder injury,he became a fans favourite and turned in some good performances,he wouldn't be fit for pre-season though. Rooney was at Gillingham two seasons back and came on as a sub to score a very good individual goal against us in our 3-0 defeat under Peter Reid......I was there that day and he truely rifled it over Larrieu's head into the roof of the net. Talk also about Sheridan being interested in having Jason Banton back on loan......Banton surely must be further down the pecking order at Palace now....seeing that they will be needing Premier experience next season. It seems that Jamie Cureton is not on Sheridan's radar by all reports....the player is out of contract this summer at Exeter....he is now 37yrs old. A fitness coach will soon be brought in by allreports,Sheridan has been on the case and is near a decision on who he wants. Having watched last nights England v ROI game I feel that there will be no England forwards on Sheridans short list.....certainly not the other Rooney.
Financially destitute Southend are definately showing interest in Torquay's out of contract Rene Howe.......is he on Sheridans radar......does Sheridan feel he could do a job for us.......if other clubs start showing interest will Sheridan make a move or not ?
Cox would be good signing, Rooney do not really know much about his career seem sto have been a bit hit and miss so far. Howe to Southend giving their financial position seems a bit strange.
Rooney did very well at Gillingham and left to go higher with Swindon. If De Canio thought enough of him to buy him then that is recommendation enough for me. Also would be quite pleased with Cox. Don't know about renie Howe though. Has scored goals but isn't a bright young prospect is he. If Banton came back here on loan that would be ok too even though I think he isn't a team player as such. He would certainly have something to prove if he wants his career to kick start properly. He is welcome to showcase himself with Argyle if he this time applies himself properly.
Well hopefully news will soon filter through who we are looking at and who we actually get? we could do with some players and not all loanees but with not a lot cash we will have to make do again it seems.. things change so quickly. We will know more when players and agents arrive back from holidays..
It seems that Cardiff are sniffing around Tyler Harvey.......rumour has it that they have had one offer refused.
