My suggestion for the causes of :
- 1 is due to the overall increase in rate of goals scored
- 2 is that the Spurs defence has been worsening (this measure is a KPI)

- 5 is that the Spurs attack is not putting the opposition under
sufficient persistent pressure to draw rash tackles

I contend that for any measure M, a value change
of at least 33% suggests that M should be
scrutinised in more detail. So on that basis ...

The % drop in clean sheets is corresponding to an increase in
goals conceded (and the effect is seen in the collapse in the
"season compass" from its recent heights at week 10/11) .
If Spurs could keep more clean sheets, the PL campaign would
be far better off.
So what is specifically happening to the defence to prevent this ??

I was having a read of this thread again over lunch and was thinking about this. One source of the lack of clean sheets is errors from the defenders and GK. The PL’s stats say we have made 6, which I believe is the highest in the division, with Lloris alone responsible for 4 of them. The others are one each from Dier and Romero.
Now I don’t know the way they have calculated this metric, but we are clearly suffering from relying on players who play a high risk game (Romero), have always had errors in them (Dier), or who have clearly regressed to a far more error-prone state than usual (Lloris). Plus we do not control games well enough (particularly due to the technical insecurity of our players, partly due to tactical decisions) so that error prone players are being placed under much more pressure. We’re bleeding goals and can hardly buy a clean sheet.
Something has to change.
1. Same way I get some of my measures : by watching match footage
and making a decision on that basis.
2. If you are so inclined, you could go thru all the Sky sports match
highlights vid clips to see if the total goals conceded due to what
you deem as errors tallies with the stats you see quoted.
3. Unfortunately you would also have to do the same for all of last
season (to get a reference stat by which to assess 2) .

My suggestion for the causes of :
- 1 is due to unnecessary rash tackles
- 2 is due to the opposition making fewer dangerous crosses into the box
where the ball could be deflected in
- 3 is mainly due to the Spurs defence being able to deal wuth crosses
- 4 is due to the opposition conceding zero fluke OG this season
- 5 is that the Spurs attack is not putting thr opposition under
sufficient persistent pressure to draw rash tackles
