Pitman wasn't free, Bournemouth let him go as a reward for everything he's done for them. In return he picked up a tidy signing on fee from us if I've got the details of the transfer right.

While Fraser looks a nippy, exciting addition, I don't think he could do the running of two players :emoticon-0105-wink:

On the subject of formations, what's looking to be our strongest on paper? I think we're all in agreement that our strikeforce is the strongest area of our squad and last season, our best form came when we implemented a 4-3-3 line-up. With that in mind, I'd prefer to see a central midfield trio of Skuse, Bishop, and Bru and McGoldrick, Murphy, and Sears up front. I just feel 4-4-2 would restrict us in terms of firepower.

We could also do a 4-5-1, although it's certainly more ambitious but would allow us to control games in the middle of the park (if we choose that option). Two central midfielders, Skuse and Bishop/Bru, an attacking midfield trident of Fraser, McGoldrick (just behind striker), and Sears just behind Murphy up top? Might be a bit unbalanced but I think Sears could do a job slightly wide if he has the option to cut inside and certainly an option if we're chasing a game.

I think most of us would agree with that Westy, I cant believe the first league game is only a few days away and the tickets for Brentford arrived yesterday, anyone else going?

I don't think we'll see too many systems other than 4-4-2 being used Nuggets. I hope we practice other set ups though to give us options.

Greetings everyone...enjoyed reading these squaddy posts and I am surprisingly confident at this season starting gate.

I believe that some if not all the doubters issues have been addressed. I am not too troubled by RB. FFS he has been playing there so long he must be used to it, and with our fresh wingers to dazzle us, shouldn't be a problem...and of course Jonny P may well be asked to man up and go back there. Even I played RB for Storrington FC about 40 years ago now, in a Sussex league, and got used to it, memorably scoring a goal with my left foot..no-one was more astonished than me!

No, I am sure we are now significantly ahead of our preparations cf this time last year.....and cant wait to drive up and warm my vocals again.

Bring on the Blues and lets help to rock PR! I predict top 4. Perhaps one more signing lurking in the early season shadows.
