1) yes it is all about fitness but it wasn't that long ago we won a preseason game against a squad of very poor calibre opposition 16 - 0 and based on that some were believing we were good enough for top 10 or better. 2) IF we sign 5-6 more players they need to be better than what we have signed so far apart from Berardi, we could end up with a starting 11 containing just 1 or 2 Brits, how would everyone feel about that? Not quite sure how I would to be honest, I hate Chelsea for their lack of British talent and lack of bringing youngsters through
Some of us are believing we are capable of a top ten finish not on the back of 16-0 we were saying it before that. Last season on too many occasions the team played like they never practiced together, were patently unfit and ran out of steam after an hour. On top of that we had McContract who was only interested in himself. He reminded me of kids teams where the one who thinks he is the best player and feels the need to play everywhere and do everything. Some of our players are much better than how donut had them playing last year. Not sure about Morison or Hunt but if either of them is any good after a decent fitness and stamina based pre season we will be top 10. Got to think that our new players are at least as good as those who have gone or they won't feature. See no reason why we won't be better than last term. P.s Boggers says we will be promoted before Easter.
They at least have Gibbs, Wilshere, Ramsey, Oxlade Chamberlain and Walcott who are all good enough to start
I'm not bothered if the whole team is completely foreign to be honest if it means an improvement on what's gone before. I'd be happy if we never again signed an overpaid, overrated journeyman Brit. The ideal scenario would be to eventually become self sufficient and bring through the youth players from the academy to replace the foreigners one by one, so that we have an entire squad of home grown talent, but that's a long way off.
I feel bothered now... but if a team of 11 foreign players won us promotion I would feel different I feel sure despite his claims otherwise that Cellino wouldn't mind a push for promotion this season and he believes we can do it, if I am wrong and he really isn't looking for a promotion push just yet then I would like to see some of the youngsters blooded in this year.
Ramsey bought from Cardiff Walcott and Chamberlain bough from Southampton. I'll give you Gibbs and Wiltshire but Arsenal don't produce young English talent they buy talent or import it from France
Sorry I didn't realise you meant bring them through their own ranks I would not be worried about Leeds not producing their own (ideally I would like it), if we brought some in and played them I would be happy with that.
I'm all for buying the best young British talent stops the likes of Scum and the scousers doing it and casting them to one side
Like the idea but were not going to attract the best of anything until were back established in the pl. We will do at some point soon, I've no doubt
I believe we are doing it right by getting the kids into the U9s and then bringing them through ... the latest crop of young pros have been with us for years and they are Leeds through and through ... our best hope is to keep getting these youngsters who want to play for their home town club in early doors, its the only way the Prem clubs are thwarted ... the one big problem of course is if we do unearth a kid with the talent of Neymar, any Prem club can take him for nowt before he turns pro ... this is due to the ridiculous agreement where the Prem pays FL clubs £250k a year for this privilege ... and to think that bald clown at Millwall championed this because "without the £250k our budget is broken" ... easy for him to say because his club doesn't have a youth policy, like so many other FL clubs today Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Where did you hear that we bid for him? Last I read was that we never made a bid it was his agent just using our name to get other clubs to bid.
we bid but weren't interested in a bidding war, probably a cheeky bid to test the water ... Cellino doesn't seem to be interested in fighting other clubs for players, and in the case of Viviani he has offered to buy the player from Roma while Italian clubs are only looking at a loan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Stop it with all this talk of top 10 and promotion you lot - got me in stitches here You funny, funny, people
Easy solution if you want to stop laughing - go on the Nilwall forum for a reality check & discuss whether you'll finish bottom or 2nd from bottom.
When you talk about our kids please remember that for the last few years we've charged parents to have a look at their kids. Many of the good kids are hoovered up and taken to Man City by our ex academy coaches who recruit from Yorkshire, as they have all the contacts. We give parents an opportunity to bring their budding Rooneys along and give them a trail. If the kid shows promise we ask them back and charge parents until a certain age. http://www.leedsunited.com/news/article/vsw21ayv5tqm1kfyw40aeh2vi/title/open-trials-at-thorp-arch? This was a business venture to get extra revenue, and is so wrong
Fair enough Billy, I heard we were not in for him but who knows. Add VIVIANI to the midfield. Squad is shaping up nicely with a few more to come
