We have beaten bigger teams than spurs on their own pitch this season so we are well in with a chance of beating spurs. I would rather play a top team than a bottom team fighting against relegation every time.....

Well that's a good question, and I'm glad you asked, it's symbolic of what happened, when we 'dropped' him, but it could also signify the way we dropped down the league table before we dropped him too.............
PS: You could also say we were never on the 'up' before we dropped him either........

I don't agree with either of you.
It seems that some people only focus on his first season, and some only focus on his second. Both happened and everyone needs to accept that. It's pointless arguing against either other, because both sides of the argument have countless flaws.
Highest league position and first senior trophy are exceptional highlights from Laudrup's time in charge. Brilliant football was seen in the first season and the start of the second, but he faded badly and couldn't get it back - injuries and extra games/travelling or not, Laudrup's squad depth clearly couldn't cope last season. Success in Europe is subjective, not fact, as even though we qualified from the group we limped over the line playing appalling football - the loss against St Gallen and Valencia and our inability to hold on ("hold on" is the key phrase here) against Kuban Krasnodar home and away are the cases in point.
The sooner you all start looking at both of his seasons, the sooner you'll both start to see that Laudrup's time in charge was neither continual success nor downright failure. He was as worthy of his sacking as he was of his success. He earned both of those things.
In 10 years, even sooner, even now, I'll look back with pride at the success that Laudrup brought to our club. But it seems that some people ignore his second season and feel that he was given a rough deal, he wasn't. (It's worth noting that we all seemed set on him leaving on his own accord for a bigger job last summer anyway, so, in a way, we just pushed him before he probably walked. It was a general consensus that he'd probably only spend 2 years with us). Other people completely ignore how awesome we were during his first season and how he took us to Wembley and brought home silverware for the first ever time in our history.
Both happened, so can everyone accept that and get over it?! You can't argue he was terrible because he wasn't. But you can't argue that he was amazing because, likewise, he wasn't. Jeez. I think TheSwanseaWay forum is calling me. This Laudrup vs Monk argument is nonsensical, but it seems to squeeze it's ugly head into 75% of the threads on here, possibly more.

Tumulutu's intention, backed by his actions, was to knowingly subvert our business and standing in Europe, particularly the transfer market. You remember, he'd already been banned from our club for attempting to take control of our transfer business. What he wanted at that time was to aggressively gain a seat on the board through controlling ALL transfer transactions, for a fee of course, whether he was involved in or instigated the transfer of not. He thought we were fools, farm boys, unintelligent suckers ripe for exploitation. We weren't and we aren't, we've proved that time and again. We saw right through him, caught him and legally banned him from any interaction with our club and or facilities.
Upon receipt of the scouting reports and our 'list of interests' passed on to him by our two-faced manager, he cold called the agents of the players on the list telling them that we, Swansea City Football Club, was a 'dead club' destined for relegation and football with the cows.
He made a mistake though and contacted one agent who already knew to us as he had a player at our club. He asked the player, allegedly rhymes with Lamat, what was happening and whether he wanted to leave. After the call the distressed player went to Monk and Ash and they all took it to the board.
An extra-ordinary meeting was quickly called but the great man(ager), now caught with his chinos around his ankles, didn't respond to any emails or txts sent over the weekend, as the West Ham game, requesting his attendance. After the game he disappeared, running away to Paris as we've since found out. Subsequently he was dismissed in absentia and was notified, by email because he wasn't to be found, and an announcement was made to the press informing them of the dismissal.
On top of his dismissal the ex manager was legally banned from contacting Swansea City FC staff and players and from entering any and every facility associated with Swansea City FC, hence forth. Coincidentally, exactly the same ban given to his master, Tumulutu.
.....and the rest is history bob the slob, and the future?
We continue to grow and progress through hard work, honesty and integrity while our great ex-manager; so great he has received no, none, zero, nada offers to manage ANY top, middle, bottom, flight club in Europe, continues to rot in the sun.

I hadn't heard any of that either (at least in that much detail), sounds more plausible than us just deciding to sack him on the basis of the slump in form though...I realise you won't divulge sources Stumpy, but I presume you're confident of that line of events or you wouldn't have written it?

A very well stated summary of the facts which many are ignorant to, or will not accept, and nicely put stumpy. Neither Laudrop or his agent in the end could be trusted, and it's why I have no time for the pair of Camel jockeys!.............
I can assure you that everything stumpy has stated there, is of knowledge to me, and it is how I was told at the time. I actually pointed out on here at the time before it was in the media, that Laudrop's agent was nothing short of a 'Spiv' that is the actual term I used when pointing out what he was getting up to...........
I am very grown up, so much so that I cannot take in any seriousness our previous manager and agent, I'm not blinded by the Laudrop image, and I ask you this, when was the last time our club had to 'SACK' a manager?
Yes, we had heard rumours/stories on here that his agent was doing what Stumpy has mentioned in his post. There were also a number of posts on here regarding Laudrup going to Paris after the WHU game. But that was the first time I'd heard about Lamat being involved and if true, and I don't see any reason why Stumpy would make up such a claim, then Monk and Ash had every right to bang on the door of the board/HJ
