Ha, so you were making the tea Really, it was a poor team effort and thats the sum of it. We were effectively pressured off the ball by a team who looked more hungry.
No, I was sarcastically referring to your stupid insistence that I wasn't watching the game. I think you're pretty much in a crowd of two with this opinion on Vic today. In fairness that more reasonable summation is probably accurate enough though.
Definitely a tactical change. Not a reflection on Victor's contribution. From what I saw [again with the caveat that I was able only to see the 2nd half], I would have possibly subbed my old favourite Steven Davis, for Cork, and Victor for Shane Long. I thought Victor was fine, but we needed more going forward, and Stevo was a bit anonymous, so Cork could have come in there. But Ronald is way more qualified than me, so his single change was fine by me.
Someone has to be the one in-step. Just because you are shouting loud it doesn't make you right. My wife agrees with me but she isn't making a song and dance about it like you lot
I'm not understanding all this focus on Morgan and Vic, when in my opinion it should be on Davis. For me, Morgan was quiet. Not poor, just quiet. It happens. And with Wanyama, I have no issues with his performance. He wasn't outstanding, but yes I have no issues. But Davis was just outright poor, in my view. His ball distributions, both in play and with set pieces, was invariably shocking.
If your wife was to be making a song and dance about it like 'us lot', then she would be disagreeing with you. Simple things escaping you quite a lot today it seems. Plus I'm shouting no louder than you. It's the internet.
Well, something I can agree with at last. Also, Tadic wasn't on-song. He has had a tendency to over-hit crosses this season. Today was no exception.
It appears we watched the same game, st_b. I wouldn't say shocking but maybe poor. Davis was certainly a bit quiet today really. The other two did their jobs pretty well, but there was nobody to link the play to. As I said before, I would have brought Jack on for Stevo.
Yes, I highlighted Tadic too, alongside Davis, in an earlier post. I'm really not keen on him playing on the right. Please move him back onto the left Ron.
The Vic wandering around bit and not anticipating (which Lff stated) struck a chord with me, that's what I saw especially 1st half, but then we were being pressed, a lot. Of course second half he starts with a fantastic tackle to break up play! I think Vic has been excellent this season, and last season he was unlucky with that injury, but he's definitely looked sharper this year. Off day for too many players today I think.
Davis made a few sneaky runs from deep. He's kind of the midfield equivalent of Shane Long. They both work hard, keep the defenses honest, and get in good positions but they just don't quite have that extra bit of skill or pace to be any more than decent players. If we still had Ramirez, I would have made Ramirez for Davis a late second half sub. It wasn't one of Davis's better games, but he wasn't terrible. Same with Tadic. And I think Tadic was feeling the effects of that first-half tackle a little bit which was just enough to throw him off. Really, Tottenham played well, and Saints played a bit not-so-well (though credit Spurs with some of that). They were the home side, so that may have been the difference. We managed to stay in the game, Koeman stuck with the starting XI as long as he could, then added an extra attacker when we needed to gamble. Mane doesn't miss that sitter, we sneak a point, everyone is happy. There was nothing really wrong with Koeman's line-up or substitutions (or lack thereof) today. We were just a little sloppy in possession, and the high press unsettled us a little early. Had that game been played at St. Mary's we might have won, so hopefully we do just that later in the season.
You obviously don't know her! Anyway, at least I can have a rest for a couple of weeks. Its bad enough losing without all this. I do have an actual, serious question though just to understand how far off I am from the rest of you. Do you genuinely think that Vic played well. Or do you think he was OK compared to the rest of them?
