His attitude and work rate are appalling. He's the wrong kind of player for us right now, too. We need a youngster who's wiling to fight for a place in the side, but isn't afraid to bide his time. Someone that's capable of playing the lone striker role would be ideal.
Coulibaly is ineligible. The thing about Pav is that he always scores in a short burst of games every few months, so if we play him during a purple patch he can win games. So if he follows up his goal against Shamrock with a goal against Rubin, he justifies his place (and gives us something to bargain with in January if we're moving him on whilst bringing in Leandro)
Agreed. I've liked the look of Kane, the penalty miss aside, he has a decent work rate and seems to play that second striker role well as he links with the midfield nicely and I can remember a few occasions of him tracking all the way back to help out the defence which gives the impression he's willing to put a shift in. I reckon with the right training he could be used in minor matches for the time being as a lone striker. If it doesn't work out then it's a lesson learnt and we'll change it, but the game time will benefit him greatly.
Fair comments SF, 'my team' had Kaboul and Bassong as the CBs, but I can easily see Harry resting Kaboul. It's a difficult call for Harry, that's for sure.
Harry, you tease TBF - your name is Harry's Disciple though - so technically you could be any name - Jesus' disciples didn't include Jesus! Back to the game - the selection issue that is really bugging me is Pienaar - WTF is happening here? Is he fit, isn't he? If he is, he has to be in the 18, but the OS is completely mystifying me (what's new) on this one
According to the Daily Mirror 'Livermore could be pressed into service as an emergency centre-back in the match, to help solve manager Harry Redknapp's defensive injury crisis.' They seem to be on the same wave length as me then (not sure if that's a good thing or not!) in regards to Livermore being used as a make-shift centre back to allow Kaboul a rest. Only difference with their team is Pav starting over Defoe - Though I think I put Defoe in mine for the pure fact of seeing Pav in a Spurs shirt at the moment just frustrates me! Livermore's proving to be really useful so far, IF he does get put in at centre back and performs well he could become a real key player in time to come to have within the squad at least - although nowhere near the level yet, he could be our version of Barca's Mascherano. Be worth tying him down to a long deal if he's not already on one.
Seems like a friend of Livermore's has tweeted that Jake is a CB tonight. Come on down Fair enough I guess, if it happens
Gomes with Livermore and Bassong infront! TEAM NEWS - Sandro, Aaron Lennon and Danny Rose all return from injury as Harry makes nine changes from the team that drew with Newcastle on Sunday. We expect to see Jake Livermore playing centre back, Heurelho Gomes starts in goal and there's another start for young Tom Carroll in midfield. STARTING XI: Gomes; Walker, Bassong, Livermore, Rose; Lennon, Carroll, Sandro, Giovani; Defoe, Pavlyuchenko. SUBS: Cudicini, Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul, Modric, Townsend, Falque, Kane.
I was one out. Damn. First time seeing Livermore at centre-back, so it'll be interesting. Hope he impresses, as it'll be another string to his bow and we may need him in that role occasionally.
Name the team that you played in the Champions League the other night, without checking it first. Shh.
