Cheers Northolt, and thanks for being such a kind host <ok>

It might interest you to know the matchday thread on our board has died a death, and this is a much more interesting and lively thread.

So, first strike for Rangers :)

We got on okay. A couple of threads got closed after anti-semitic comments, which to be fair was Liverpool fans on atleast one occasion, I didn't see the offensive posts of the second. Other than that they were full of questions about who we thought was their player that worried us most and the like, they didn't like that we weren't particularly concerned about any individual and more that they seem to be a good team, sum of the parts and all that. Well they did not like that one bit.

It's kind of inevitable that most crossboards end up in arguments and get closed, every fan is full of strong opinions and bias and it's almost garunteed that someone will kick it all off with a silly comment or an overeaction at some point. Not that I'm against it, unless I missed some deleted posts, our mods seemed to pre-empt any arguments which isn't something I've seen before.

Ohwell time for me to hit the hay, busy weekend coming up for me and none of it involves watching Spurs :(

Beware the "Enforcer"

Many congratulations to Queen's Park Rangers, who convincingly won last season's Championship Title race and automatic promotion, before having to endure the agony of a late investigation into alleged irregularities over their acquisition of Argentinean midfielder Alejandro Faurlin, which took place in July 2009. Some people criticised the punishment over the club's breach of two league regulations, but in football terms there is no doubt that Rangers deserved their promotion..........................

QPR boss makes Hill admission

NEIL Warnock admits he thought Clint Hill would never play for QPR again following their opening-day drubbing against Bolton.

The left-back was sent-off in the 4-0 home reverse against Wanderers, and was shipped out on loan to Nottingham Forest.

However, the 33-year-old made a shock return to Loftus Road following an injury to Armand Traore, and impressed in the west London derby win against Chelsea.

And Hill looks set to keep his place for Sunday's clash with Spurs.

Boss Warnock said: “I thought it was the last time he would ever play for me, but he was magnificent against Chelsea.”

I had to stop reading that halfway through, but in the interest of keeping 'on-side' with you lot, I'll refrain from giving my views. Let's just say if that article goes on the Spurs board, then it's like football violence is back but in the cyber version :)

Harry - Warnock for England
<laugh>
Spurs chief backs capital rival for Three Lions role

Last Updated: October 29, 2011 9:48am

Warnock took over as QPR manager in March 2010 and navigated the club away from relegation from the Championship before guiding them to promotion the following season.

Backed by the money of new co-owner Tony Fernandes, Warnock has led the club to 10th in the Premier League this year after a series of impressive results - the latest being last week's 1-0 derby win over title challengers Chelsea.

The 62-year-old's outspoken character may prove to be a turn-off for many, but in Redknapp, Warnock has a big admirer.

Redknapp is the bookmakers' favourite to take over as Three Lions boss next summer after the Football Association suggested they would favour a home-grown manager to replace Fabio Capello.

Redknapp would like to take over from the Italian, who will stand down after Euro 2012, but is likely to face competition from the likes of Roy Hodgson, Martin O'Neill and maybe even Jose Mourinho.

Outside bet

Warnock is a huge outsider for the position but Redknapp thinks the former Sheffield United manager is good enough to fill the position.

"I'm sure he could do the job," the Tottenham boss said.

"If you have good players you have a chance. Neil has done fantastically. To walk in there and take them up in his first full season takes some doing.

"People think it's easy but they've all been trying and no-one got near it. Suddenly he walks in and up they go."

Warnock has ruffled many feathers during his 31-year management career and like Redknapp, he rarely shies away from expressing his strong opinions in public.

That has led many to dislike the Yorkshireman, but Redknapp thinks his record should be enough to merit more praise.

"I don't think he gets the recognition he deserves," Redknapp said.

"People love to knock him but he must be doing something right.

"People are always looking for magic formulas in football. He just understands the game.

"He understands good players, knows how to put a good team together and knows players who will do a good job for him.

"He puts them in the right slots and puts them all together and gets the best out of them."

SWP fan

After a 4-0 home defeat to Bolton on the opening day of the season, Rangers looked set for a long and hard campaign, but thanks partly to the additional transfer funds brought in by Fernandes, the club now look set for a mid-table finish.
Shaun Wright-Phillips, who signed from Manchester City this summer, has arguably been Warnock's best purchase since Fernandes' takeover.

The winger, who spent most of his second spell at City on the bench, is a player who Redknapp rates highly.

"I've always liked him and thought he was a talent," Redknapp said.

"I didn't go in for him this time, but I've tried a couple of times in the past. I would have liked to have had him, he's a real talent and at the moment he's playing with real confidence.

"We've only got Aaron Lennon in that position and he's had injuries. That has been a problem for us."

Mackie looks to build on Chelsea win
Sat, 29 Oct 13:15:09 2011

QPR striker Jamie Mackie believes the west London derby defeat of Chelsea bodes well for Rangers' clash with Tottenham on Sunday.
The Rs became the first promoted club for more than 10 years to beat the Blues as Heidar Helguson's penalty proved enough to see off their near rivals last weekend.
Much of the post-match talk has been about allegations Chelsea skipper John Terry racially abused Anton Ferdinand, although Mackie was keen to ensure the team's success was not overshadowed.
"The lads are really confident as a dressing room, but it is not often a promoted side can play one of the top four and get a result," he said.
"When they came to our place it was a great atmosphere for everyone and I think the lads did really well. On days like that I think you need a bit of luck against the top teams.
"Chelsea had a couple sent off, which gave us a platform to kick on and we got over the line and it gives us confidence against Tottenham now. It was nice to get [our first home win] and to do it against Chelsea is even better for the fans so we can kick on now."

The Pre-Match Warm Up: Tottenham v QPR

They don’t get any easier do they? After Sunday’s fantastic 1-0 win over Chelsea last weekend we travel north tomorrow to face Harry Redknapp’s Spurs at White Hart Lane. It’s a second consecutive Super Sunday for QPR but can this one be quite as super as the last?

Why is 'spuds' so offensive to the Spurs fans? Is there a meaning I am not aware of? If not, there are a lot worse things they could be called.....was going to post this on the Spurs board thread, but all you can see over there is tumbleweed.....

QPR fans outraged after Spurs snub

QPR are looking to form a disabled supporters association following howls of protest over a paltry 14 tickets allocated for the Spurs derby on Sunday in a ground that holds 36,000.

The 14 disabled fans get a carer’s pass as well, but it pales by comparison with the 3,000 able-bodied Hoops filling up the away end at White Hart Lane.
Steve Lewington looks after disabled son Aaron at home games, but none of the Lewington family will be in north London after failing to get one of the precious spots.

“It’s very disappointing – and we’re not the only ones disappointed,” said Lewington senior. “But it’s almost like winning the lottery if you get one. From what I’ve been told, there are only four places available at Stoke in November for wheelchair users.”

QPR’s away allocation for the return Spurs game on April 21 is currently 13 (26 with carers) in an 18,000 ground. But even that was three more than Tottenham’s original allowance before discussions with Rs and the Premier League.

A Facebook page calling itself the QPR Disabled Fans Association is not an official body says the club, but disabled liaison Officer Jon Davies will set the wheels in motion for such a group after meeting Level Playing Field, formerly the National Association of Disabled Supporters.

A club spokesman said: “Jon will be meeting with Level Playing Field in early November to discuss ways forward with creating an official DSA, should the disabled supporters wish to form one.”

It would appear the problem of sufficient space for disabled supporters, both ambulent and wheelchair, is not Tottenham’s alone.

Chelsea and Fulham insist space for away disabled can be adjusted depending on demand, but the clubs’ given statistics allow 372 home fans at Stamford Bridge, with places for 18 away. Fulham have space for 101 home fans, and 79 away.

Even a brand new stadium like The Emirates would struggle to accommodate large numbers of disabled visitors at Arsenal games.

For a £400 million-plus stadium built just five years ago, there is an allocation of 339 for those in red – and just 44 for the away team.

I hope Warnock plays Traore instead of Hill if Armand is fit. Rumour is he'll stick with Hill regardless. Hope not...Walker v Hill = carnage!!

Spuds is a nasty, demeaning, derogatory term that deliberately chips :) away at our great historic name of Spurs, one of the most glorious and romantic nicknames in English football. Coming from Harry Hotspur as made famous by Shakespeare. It's an absolute affront when made by people who know what they are doing.

Most clubs have a stupid childish variation on their name, but the fans don't get so precious about it.
